the constitution
    #930104 - 10/03/02 10:44 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

in all of this "lets attack iraq" hoopla where's the constitution. everyone is acting like it doesnt exist. the president doesn't have the power to declare. it is clearly stated. he has the power to deploy the military for 60 days and that solves the problem of immediately responding to an urgent situation. it seems to me like this administration tries to make a power grab every chance it gets. Bush wants the power to go to war for whatever reason for however long with as many people with no consent. we dont have a king. there is a system of checks and balances that has for the most part worked pretty well and who is this guy to come along and think he has the power to over ride the constition.

I cant believe what is happening in this country right now. after the sept 11 attack the pres. knew he could basically do what ever he wanted because of patriotism. it is considered unpatriotic to question the president especially in a time of crisis. this sounds alot like how the nazis came to power and performed atrocities and the populace of germany was played like a marionette

Much of America needs to sober up and realize that Bush is consolidating power at an alarming rate. An offensive invasion of Iraq would be a monumental mistake and Bush is pushing for a declaration of war from the Senate without debate? He's had a boner for war ever since Sept. 11 2001. It seems that Iraq is his target du jour even though they had nothing to do with the attacks on NY and Washington D.C.

Since their is no back door to declareing war and since Congress aproved war against Iraq years ago it is still aproved.. Technicly the US is aproved to wage war at any moment against everyone congress has aproved of through history..

Bush has said this before, that he dont need congress but I think he is doing the right thing in trying to get their approval... For the most part I know hes just doing this to have someone else to blame because most people think this Iraq thing is a Bush Family Vs Sadam thing but its still good to go through the proper chanels..

The Constitution is void where prohibited by law. The stupid Republicans who have given Bush all this extra power are going to be whining when Hillary Clinton or some other Democrat gets elected and starts using it to implement their version of a dictatorship.

The Republic is officially dead, long live Ceaser!

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.
