I just got back from a double feature, introduced by Clive Barker...

I live near LA, about 40 minutes away.  I was browsing Halloween events around my area when I came across a showing of Midnight Meat Train/Candyman with special guest Clive Barker.

For those who don't know, Clive Barker is a key author in the horror genre (among many other things...)  I just got done reading his book of short stories (Books of Blood) and I've been meaning to see the new movie (Midnight Meat Train.)

Of course Murphy jacks off in my face and EVERYTHING ends up going wrong-it takes nearly 2 hours to get there.  It starts at 7:30...I get there about 8:15. 

Right when I get into the old theater, I hear clapping.  Mr. Barker JUST finished his speech.  He told everyone he was doing a Q&A between movies, but he bounced out during the first movie and never returned.


Midnight Meat Train was pretty fucking shitty.  It's always a lot of fun seeing a movie with an audience who's down with the subject matter...but the movie was pretty bad...the extreme violence saved it from a complete fail. 

After a break, they start the 2nd movie up.

Candyman....oh wow.  I forgot about that movie...I was probably like 11 the last time I saw it.  Not only is that movie just a DAMN good movie (with an amazing soundtrack by Phillip Glass), but it's actually frightening (then and now).  Probably one of the best horror films of the 90's. 

It was a little lonely between showings because I went by myself, but other then that, it was just a damn good time.  I love scary movies, and seeing a classic like Candyman again with such an enthusiastic audience was awesome.
