hey how's the grows goin? did you quit for a while? Did you ever get some store bought strains going?

I've been forced to stop for a while too and am cloning some store bought's to pass the time so I just figured I'd drop a line and ask what's up?

MAN! ScavengerType, you should check the grow logs. I have about 5 strains going right now. Hawaiians, Malabars, Creepers, PE's, Kohs, and Pans.

I still have the portabella lc but haven't done anything with it.

nah...sent him in with some dried shittaki. He got extra credit. No one ever made a big deal about it at all. Just like we have been treating it, no big deal, as it should be....NO BIG DEAL! sorry bout that.

So yeah...it's all good. My hobby hasn't overtaken the house so, long as it doesn't get any larger, it's all good.

Hey Hanzo..  Just curious how you dunk your substrates..  I have a method I have been using for a couple years with great results but I would like insight on other cultivators methods to create new flushes with casings...

I just fill up a 5 gallon bucket with hose water, carefully lift the black plastic covered myc cake out of the tub, push the entire cake under water (usually I take the plastic off, but this last time I didn't), covering and pushing down the cake with a dinner plate, as it fits in the narrowing opening of the bucket until it gets locked into place. I let it soak for 4 hrs or so, remove and drain well (30 mins). Coat with vermiculite, rewrap if you unwrapped it, place carefully back into the tub (it will want to break in half if you are not careful), and ensure a nice even layer of verm is on top. Mist liberally and seal up the tub, putting it back into fruiting conditions.

Please share with me how you do it...I don't know jack!

There's a tek somewhere around here where you do your first half up to taking out the plastic, and then put a second tub on top of the other and fill that with water to hold the substrate down.

The RR videos say to dunk cakes for 24 hrs, and there small... I'd say you need to dunk that huge bulk substrate even longer, at min 24 hrs.

i hear ya Boris, but cakes are made with BRF and Verm...not Hpoo and spawn...way more sponge like. I have in the past gone for 24 hr soaks, but, we'll see. The purpose is to just rehydrate the substrate, in which 4hrs works great for me.
