Double tub questions
#3486038 - 12/12/04 12:08 PM (19 years, 2 months ago) |
|
|
A) Does a double tub work by the air oozing out of the bottom holes and PULLING air in through the top holes?
B) A climate controlled environment has at least some sort of air current doesn't it? Will this be enough to allow the double tub to do its thing?
C) I am using huge moving boxes as my terrarium(s). They are 36" cubes. With 6" of substrate, plus 2" casing layer, that's 28" above the casing layer for humid air, which is probably just about the height difference or more in a double tub, so do you think that this will work under the same principles?

Yea no problem, you should check it out, it's a pretty cool lil contraption, though it seems no one uses it!
Is there anyone out there that can help me?

the post on it doesn't really explain how it works. i wish i had something to tell you. they're usualy only about 24" tall or so though.. it should work.. but the RH might be low.. but you do have a pretty thick layer of stuff.. should work imo.

Yea I'm not exactly sure how it works either, and based merely on my own logic, it doesn't sound too efficient, though he had amazing results. I'd just like to have a better understanding before I leave my terrarium alone and come back to disaster.

Is this the post you read?http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3026085/page//fpart/1/vc/1 He had a fan going 24/7 in the room with the tubs. Yes, the idea is fresh air comes in the top holes and CO2 expells through the bottoms holes.

Yea that is the thread/method.
I just didn't know whether the seeping of air out of the bottoms holes actually PULLED air in through the top. I don't quite understand how the displacement of gases works exactly. All I know is that I only need a slight current to get the air inside the terrarium to diffuse.

I am going to be setting up something like this in the near future in a closet with very little circulation... it's carpeted and I don't want to move air all over the place in there, (don't want to stir up anything in the carpet that I missed with the vacuum) so I am just going to let it sit without an active air current in the room and hope for the best based on the science behind it...

This is a lazy way of achieving minimal results. Invest some time and effort, take pride in your work

autograph.. welcome to the shroomery (i see that you've been registered for a while, but this is your first post, so welcome nevertheless). But from now on, check the dates on threads when using the search function or the related threads function. This bad boy is over a year old, and to be quite frank, your comment really doesn't add to the discussion at all, let alone merit raising the dead.
Not a big deal, but now you know to check for it next time.
