I feel like Xanax would help me with a lot of shit too (I've been dealing with some anxiety lately), but I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot poll. Too many side-effects. And I'm worried it would stop me from addressing the actual reason behind the bad feelings, namely that I have no life or future at the moment, I drink too much, and I have to work on these things. It seems more fitting to feel like shit in my shithole than to feel awesome and happy in my shithole.

Like everybody else said, you should probably stop now. Even if you magically avoid all the side-effects and awful addiction potential, it's just a crutch. Dealing with your problems yourself builds character, leaning on drugs will destroy you.

Are you seriously gonna say that you're able to be "social, happy, and confident with women" BY USING A PILL!? You can't do this by yourself? Lol at you then.

That's worse than alcoholics saying alcohol helps them be themselves. You're lying to yourself. If you can't be happy and social by yourself without the use of a drug, then you've got a lot of issues you have yet to work on; and by using xanax, you're only delaying the inevitable, let alone with the chances of nasty side-effects.

at least get prescibed to Xanax and stop abusing it.  It'll come back to bite you in the ass.  and if your do get prescribed it stick with the pre-set amount DONT ABUSE IT!

Your right I do have issues.  I admit it.  I've been trying to deal with these issues for the majority of my life.  If a pill can help me then I'd rather have the pill than die a lonely depressed old man.

I believe the xanax can help me get to where i want to be and then I will quit it.  I'm not dosing everyday - its twice a week or so at the moment.

If you've fought and overcome 16+ years of manic depression and anxiety and can suggest a better way then maybe I would accept your advise to not use it.
