I've decided to stop drinking caffeinated beverages.
    #8757435 -

Well, I've had an amazing amount of work in the past little while, and as a result I've been working off 2 hours of sleep a night basically. Access to free soft drinks and coffee makes it all the easier to simply chug down that soft drink for lunch, or drink that extra coffee in the morning. Thankfully my life is starting to settle down (for a little while at least) and I've noticed my right eye is starting to twitch uncontrollably. It doesn't take a doctor to realize that the twitching is a side affect of my massive amounts of caffeine consumption. So, I'm going to get more sleep from now on (fuck work, I quit) no matter what. I'll be low on cash for awhile, but hey, I have enough to get me through for awhile.

So, who else has cast off caffeine?

Have fun with that... You may wanna ween off. If you were into the twitching stage, the withdrawls may give you a headache from hell.

Might wanna try some half caff coffee for a week or two.

I tried to quit caffeine, but i can't. I don't even get a rush from it anymore, i drink it just to not feel like shit. Every now and then i will ease off of it for a couple of days, so when i do need caffeine to make me more alert it actually works as intended. Sometimes i have such a high tolerance of it, but i need it, i take a caffeine pill and drink a energy drink. That gets a spark goin. God, I'm a slave to caffeine. I don't drink in excess, smoke cigs, or do anything else that is addictive, so i tell myself that caffeine is my one addiction im allowed.

I had 10 servings of Rockstar the other day, between morning and late night. The whole next day I felt like sleeping every second...

I try to limit my coffee nowadays, like you I barely feel the effects anymore... It seems like I drag ass no matter what.

I think I'm gonna try and quit the caff too... I do like Rockstars tho.

I said fuck coffee 4 years ago.
Now, when I even take an excedrin, I can feel the crash from the caffeine.  My hands get shaky and I get lightheaded.
I can feel the caffeine in friggin doctor pepper again, but don't get a crash from it the way I do from excedrin.
There's no way I'll ever drink coffee or energy drinks again.  Screw that.

Why can't you just be a good little worker and consume your stimulants?  A gramme is better than a damn.

I believe caffeine is the most deplorable drug available today, illicit or not (maybe anti-depressants top them).  The way our society abuses it....

Coffee tastes like shit to me anyway.  I know there is good coffee out there, but whats normally available to keep the office-slaves from nodding off in front of their screens is disgusting.

I'm glad to hear some smart folk are rejecting this shit, bravo :congrats:  Go back to operating on natural brain chemistry.

It brings up an interesting question:  Is it inherently bad to be physically dependent on a drug?

Caffeine has few (if any) side effects at all and is a performance enhancer.  So why shouldn't people drink it?

way to drop the caffeine habit!

Also the high fructose corn syrup and other nasty things in pop was bad for you too.

You'll probably get headaches, I did for a while when I stopped drinking Redbull... I was never really a pop fan, but I loved Redbull. I just liked the way it tastes. I'll still be bad every once in a while and get one, but caffeine is a nasty thing.

Yeah dude, fail.
I've never felt as jittery, or as shitty coming off something as I do with caffeine.

Acute doses of caffeine may make you feel bad.  It's due to dosing too high.

Caffeine doesn't have any chronic effects (e.g. cancer) and the placebo effect plays a huge role in withdrawal symptoms.

Most people get their caffeine from coffee, which has antioxidants and can actually produce beneficial effects.

Its not always due to dosing too high, I said I felt like shit after the caffeine in an excedrin, the last time I had a cup of coffee after not drinking coffee or soda for about 2 years I had to lay down I felt so shitty.
Caffeine is a foul chemical.  It may not cause cancer but brain scans on individuals who have used it for years show markedly different brain activity than non-caffeine users.

Yeah well I was also getting a shitload from that coke shit. Plus its BS. Caffeine negatively affects me in many ways. I have trouble sleeping if I drink any within like 3 hours of when I go to bed. My fucking eye twitches and I generally feel sleep deprived. There was only two solutions, drink more caffeine or drink less.

I chose the latter.

I dropped caffeine about a year and a half ago.  I guess I should say that I dropped sodas, because I drink tea when I get the chance.  I feel better about it anyways though.  There are far better drugs out there to ruin yourself on than caffeine that is for sure.

I hate being like this, i have never been addicted to anything like this before. Damn it, you guys are giving way to many good reasons to help me quit. Im ganna try quitting starting today. Baby steps...baby steps.

I try not to drink caffeinated beverages . . .
but that's only because I'm addicted to codeine and get 15 mg of caffeine per 8 mg of codeine.  Sometimes I'll be ingesting upto 3000 mg of caffeine a day, so I figure that a coffee here or there isn't going to help me stay awake.

I only drink tea; but I can feel it perk me up...

I'm trying to remove caffeine and excess sugar from my diet.. I don't drink carbonated drinks, so the only source of caffeine in my diet is through chocolate and tea.

At the moment I'm down to one cup of tea a day; normally in the morning after breakfast, to get rid of that hazey feeling...

However, this all goes to shit when I get high, cause a tasty cup of tea and a mars bar hit the spot unlike anything else.
