OlyPen (P.A./Forks) hunting in august/september?
    #8750586 -

Hey all!

I'm spending some time in washington (see subject line), visiting family - and have got a few questions, if you don't mind (I've already done plenty of searching the forum):

#1 - from what I've researched, it looks as though the climate does not support cubensis? Is that true?

#2 - am I a bit too early to have much success with any other actives (we're leaving mid-september )? i.e. off-season?

#3 - any other general tips/advice that apply to this specific neck of the woods? ( complying with the board's rules, of course! )

#4 - is it considered sketchy/bad/wrong to hop fences into peoples' cow pastures - aside from the obvious of avoiding contact w/ authorities - I've never had experience with this aspect; this is my first time hunting in the wild anyhow. Any advice in this area? (I'm not asking for specific locations)

We just had a serious temp drop w/ lots of rain today, so I'm wondering whether I should get my hopes up for a few hunts over the next few days (I'm too new here to have any spots, so it'd be random/luck), or whether it's simply too unlikely to have much success right now to get any high expectations. (the closest thing to any actives I've found thus far are what appear to be sub foe's)

Thanks, much appreciated!

1.  True.
2.  Untrue.
3.  Check for Panaeolus subbalteatus in horse dung and Gymnopilus spp. on dead logs or live trees.
4.  That depends on the customs of the area.  In some places it can get you shot or arrested.  In other places no one seems to have a problem with it.
