Just found some tunnels @ Georgetown

So a group of us were walking back onto campus from the cheesesteak place tonight and as we were passing a particular building I got the urge to piss.

So i wander over to these giant steel grates in front of one of the buildings, and as I'm pissing I notice a 'hatch' shape cutout of one of the grates.  So - turns out it was a hatch that lead to a 3-tier fire escape-type stairwell that leads down to some tunnel thing.

Pretty great drunk discovery - i'll add pictures tomorrow night, we plan on smoking a blunt down there.

nope, no shit smell and no rats (and they are plentiful around here).

the building is on a hill, so every now and then we could see into a basement-level workshop (its a chem building).

It's probably one of those covert cold war tunnels they dug from Georgetown to the Russian embassy to spy on them during the mid 90's.

Ever see that movie Breach? It's about Robert Hanssen, a high level FBI employee that was selling secrets to the Russians. Well he sold out our plans of digging a 1/4 mile tunnel from Georgetown University to the Russian embassy to bug and tap the building.

Be careful. It might not even be related, but if it is be expected to be apprehended.

I always heard rumors about my old school having them. My current one does for sure. Most of the science buildings have tunnels for some reason.

Just be careful as hell running around tunnels in DC. You might get into a spot where you bit off more than you can chew.

It could be a stormwater drain, in which case don't go in there if there's a chance of rain!

hahaha - that would be rediculous.  I am pretty sure we're going to head back tonight - definitely not sober though. 

We only have a week left in our program here in DC and we're intent on spending it schwilly.  I'll be sure to take a flashlight tonight though.
