I'm pretty sure you'd hear it, guns are loud. Unless they have a silencer, but then again you'll probably still hear it. And when you get shot close up you get to see the gun smoke and smell it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy.

The bullet, and your death, occur before the sound can travel to your now dead ears... Hence, you don't hear the one that gets you.

It is flawed by the fact that you often live for several seconds, even with a fatal shot.

I think the adage is only applicable to distance headshots... which are kinda rare. However, with snipers using .50 these days, you don't hear anything because you explode. :smirk:

Yeah I'm just pretty sure you hear the loud pop before your brains are scattered, sniper would be an exception.

If your head explodes, you die (and stop hearing) before sound gets to you.

Sound slower than bullet... you see?

Even from 10 feet, instant death is instant and is before the bullet's sound.

if the bullet is moving faster than the speed of sound the bullet would reach you before the gun shot would. :shrug:

maybe distance make a difference

you dont hear it because it doesnt go wizzing by your noodle, if
you hear it, it's already past you so dont bother hitting the ground

I didn't get shot, but I haver a piece of an EFP plate the size of a 7.62 round embedded in my right shoulder. 

It felt Like getting hit with a burning 2x4 in the arm.

The M26 taser hurt worse, but at least the probes don't do as much damage as a bullet or chunk of hot copper.

Having your hand blown off from taking the blasting cap out of a bomb, however, hurts the most.
