Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fucking idiot.
What is your definition of magic? I'm generally considered plenty intelligent and I believe the form of magic most reasonable people in here are discussing is both useful and just as real as most anything else. I am talking about the exploration of consciousness and subconsciousness, whether through meditation, yoga, or drugs - it is all magic.
Surely, being shroomerite, you have experienced said magic. Taken mescaline? Then you definitely had a magical adventure.
Yeah, but don't you know, this is how it works. These fuckers like to target a general group (such as those who believe in a subjective term) and use blanket statements to act as if there is no subdivision.
This allows them to ignore the very real (and more subtly defined) magical aspects of reality that exist in the 'in between' space... the space between what is generally considered impossible (levitation, etc.) and the space of what is considered logically sound. (That which can be explained away with science.)
Instead of making individual approaches to different people with different views, it's easier to just say "Oh, grey zone is science realm, so we won't even address that"... but it's fucking bullshit, because there is so much in that realm that cannot be explained by science beyond mere theory which can be verified through human experience. (Such as programming the subconscious mind)
I dare you skeptics NOT TO target levitators, and other extremists who obviously don't represent the average magic practitioner. (How could they, when they're obviously full of shit?)
I dare you skeptics to start paying attention to what MOST spiritual individuals are trying to get at: That the nature of our reality does not involve levitation or telekinesis or magic fireballs from the palm of my hand, AND YET it is still mind-blowingly amazing. It is still unfathomable. It is still unexplained. Science explains nothing. Science is based on physics, which is a series of rules based on objectivity. And objectivity cannot be KNOWN with any certainty, due to our subjective perspectives.
Once more: The point is, it is easy to go after extremist views... but you are not changing or influencing almost any of the target audience, because the people who ARE willing to listen and consider your view are those with less extreme views, such as those who understand that magic is something that happens in the inner landscape and has nothing to do with telekinesis.
Or maybe I'm wrong.
But I'm sick of seeing the most legitimate arguments for belief in spirituality being intentionally overlooked because it is so much easier to verbally chase down the extremists who skew the various group definitions. (Magic users, muslims, christians, AMERICANS... take your fucking pick.)
