Is there any where to look up how much it will cost to register your vehicle before you go to the town office to pay to get it done?

try your states department of transportation website, just look it up as "Your state" DOT

it can vary by county,  just depends on how greedy the county commissioners are

there's basic information, it wont contain  ad valorem tax or the mill rate.

Well last year I think it was around $270. . .  I'm really hoping it will go down a bit but probably not. Either way my dad is paying for it because I'm currently taking up residence in shit creek! I just want to be able to get the least amount of money possible from him as I don't really want to barrow money from him but have no real choice besides driving around in an unregistered vehicle!
