Yo all
Yesterday I searched for the things I need to do the PF tek
So I bought Brown Rice ( No flour ) And searched alot of zoo and flower shops for vermiculite and the only thing I found was Kitzengrass - this is vermiculite with some grass seeds that should be planted and there will grow grass and the cats should piss there ! So the only option I have is separate the seeds from the vermiculite and use that... I started doing that and I understood I didnt cleaned my handz......... bulLLLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you tell me other thing I can use instead of vermiculite ?

Yo man, why does it matter if you cleaned your hands? unless you dont even plan on sterilizing the mixture, then you've already doomed yourself to contams.... but if your gonna pressure cook it, then dont worry about what you do before hand...

It doesnt matter if you washed your hands, you can piss in a jar(maybe not) and as long as you pressure cook it there's no problem!

My vermiculite came with peat moss mixed in so i just picked it out with my dirty hands, worked out fine!

Try Home Depot and/or Lowes for Verm. They both stock it.

yea,
vermaculite is a pretty basic gardening need.
so any big type department store that has a gardening department should have it.

coco coir (which is usually just as hard to get) or perlite. both are more difficult to work with and i do not recommend either but they hold good deals of water and thats the only purpose of vermiculite.
you can try cooking whole rice then sterilizing it; that would create a decent environment provided it doesnt turn to mush with too much moisture.
search yahoo for 'buy vermiculite online' or something its cheap as hell in bulk and you wont have to worry about it.

You can often find it in small amounts at tropical fish stores. They use it as a water filtration material. For bulk bags (a lot cheaper), try any swimming pool maintance & supply place. They use it the same way - in swimming pool water filters.
