Bacon flavored vodka, wtf tell me it's not real......

A friend saw on Jay Leno last night that a new craze is soaking bacon grease in vodka for a week in a dark place for a week then straining and "enjoying" the bacon flavored vodka, of course people think I'm a damn chemist and call me asking if this is real and I have no idea.

Has anyone here ever heard of this, I hope it's a joke.

no its real.

bacon is on the culinary rise.  its used in many dishes now a days and just recently its been used in things like ice cream and liquor.  im a chef i know these things.

ew, i just googled it and there are all sorts of links.  i don't know if i could get up the nerve to try liquor soaked in bacon fat.

Hell yes!!! I just quit drinking so the vodka is out. BUT, the other day i thought about chocolate covered bacon. I have three spices all ways. salt, pepper and bacon. Have you ever had anything with chocolate on it that wasn't good?

Thats what I'm talking about! :smile: 

We make chocolate covered bacon quite a bit, its absolutely delicious!  I mean, how could it not be?  Chocolate is awesome as is bacon, the combination is fantastic.  We usually use the thick cut bacon, when its done cooking we cut the stips into about 2 inch long pieces and dip the pieces in dark chocolate (melted in a double boiler) then let it cool off in the fridge on wax paper and snack on them whenever the urge hits.  Fuckin' delicious!

Someone had the same idea.  Haven't tried it yet.  But I would if I had the chance.
