morel mushroom

morchella escuella, m. rotunda, m. elata, m conica.

ive found allot of the rare m. semilibera this year.

from cost to cost, more in northern usa,

thanks to travel channel's cristan gumm, lieing and raising the price to 60 a pound, (she a bitch, but thanks), i can find from 1-3 pounds in a hour on a good day! mushrooming can provide an income....

People were paying 60/lb for them?  Fresh?

The buyers around mt. shasta were paying $19/lb fresh last I checked.  Whole foods had them for $40, but only once.

Prices have varied quite a bit this year.  I also saw prices as high as 60 a pound and as low as 10 for dried ones (after conversion).

The whole foods around here has them for about $40/lb dried. They Last I checked they were charging $75/lb for dried chantrelles, and it just so happens that I know a spot where I can harvest ohhhhhh, several dozen lbs per season!

Dried chantrelles are nasty imo.  I preserve them sauteed and froze.

My first year finding morels. Didnt find to many untill it was almost too late. Most were already dried or on their way out. But on the flip side I now know a big patch is out behind my house. Cant wait till next season.
