i am not actually proposing that the admin do anything, but wouldn't it be weird if each shroomerite was granted an "anonymous" name?

in here, you are never more than 1 post old, maybe a few if you call out "OP here".

the point is that you could actually get to know people by revealing everything from the start. the exact opposite of how you normally go about relations.

what thinketh thou?

I talk to myself in here all the time. And sometimes I talk to my OTHER self in here too. It's good for my selves to be able to communicate outside of our head at times.

I get your point..

I misunderstood you at first.  It would make referenceing back to the OP easier.  BUt that would have to be it then.  The creator of the any post would be called anon1 or whatever but only in that post.

I think what he was trying to say is that despite our usernames and avatars we are still obviously anonymous people around here anyway. He was thinking outside the Shroomery box within which you are obviously trapped.

I think the idea has some merit, to be able to carry on a conversation even MORE anonamously, with numbered names to keep track of it all. But at the same time I think it would have to be optional because such a system would take so much fun out of most of the anonymous threads.
