Amanita Heaven (If it wasn't for the slugs)
    #841817 - 08/25/02 08:47 AM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Post deleted.

I deleted the post so that if any newbies see this they won't think the mushrooms pictured before are edible.

I'm kinda wondering if those red guys are really Amanitas. They could be Russlas, due to their small size and lack of spots on the caps. When you handle them do you find that they are extremely brittle, like if you dropped one would it just shatter?

I picked them because I wasn't sure what they were when I was out there, and had doubt because of size and lack of white spots, also there didn't seem to be a volva on the one that had a stem.

I'd like to know why I shoudln't eat A. Muscaria, did you read that they are poisonous in a book perhaps?

i consider them poison because they make you barf and feel ill when you eat them staight up. even if you just eat the skins, and forget smoking them.

it requires a certain ammont of steeping and boiling and drying (not in that order) to make the experience in any way pleasent, and even then it can be rather nauseus and terrifying.
ive only experinced nausea and uneasyness. but i must say, they come up easy kind of like when youre drunk.
whereas regular, hallucinogenic matter such as acrid panaeolus or morning glory seeds have more of a gut-wrenching dry-heaving agony flu-like vomit where all the universe is laughing at you and poking fun at the fact that you ate too much and are feeling 1000X like hell.

thats the only thing i like about amanitas, as far as vommiting them up goes, it aint so bad.

Actually Mitchnast, Both the Siberians and the Ojibways who consume the Amanitas do so after they are dried, never cooked.

The Siberian women chew the dried mushroom in their mouths until they are gummy and then the male swallows the goop whole.

Anyway I too do not recommend these shrooms to anyone, Yet Jonathan Ott and james Arthur are the only two people I know personally who has eaten them.

I fdo hear numerous people say they have but i have not seen this event in person.

They are very popular in parts of California and in Colorado for some reason.

ok, so the conclusion here is, amanita muscaria should only be consumed after steeping, or being well chewed by your own personal siberian slavewoman

"hey nikola, chew up this mushroom for me and then spit it into my mouth like a little birdy"

i hear you can mail-order women from siberia....

Well again you are steeping the shroom, yet the Siberians chew them dried.

Oh well I learn something every now and then also.

But as Mitchnast and I both agree they are not for everyone at all. Eat psilly shrooms and be happy. Eat Amanitas and you either get sick, a little drunk and/orhorribly sick.

And staya aw=y from Datura and jimson weed
