15,000 more people died from prescription drugs in 2005 than illegal drugs (including heroin and cocaine)…that’s 47% more. Total illegal drug deaths in 2005:17,000 Drug induced deaths result directly from drug consumption and overdose. Drug abuse is a major factor in the transmission of std’s, hepatitis, and tuberculosis.

I'm not too confident in these data since it appears the authors cannot discern a "rate" from "total number".

This is propaganda, the government says prescription drugs are safe and marijuana is dangerous, lets start believing in our government and start snorting oxys mixed with fentanyl with a methadone kool aid chaser and stop smoking weed because it's too dangerous.

Ive heard in the past that auto accident were considered the number one. In fact i had a teacher who told our class of thirty a statistic that something like 10 or more of us would die in the future(i forget the time range, X years) of auto accidents. I remember it struck me with surprise. Now i wonder what kind of category this fits into: someone pop'n some Rx's like vicoding oxy etc., gets into a wreck kills someone and gets test determining their intoxication. Would it be a Rx or an auto death?
