more than 6 million in all, it ranks up there with hitlers body count

Yea we killed a lot of native americans, but the vast majority died because of diseases that they couldn't fight off.  Im not sure you can really compare what specifically the future Americans did and what the Nazi's did

maybe your history teacher didn't teach you that well. not only were americans racist toward the indians, they knowingly gave them diseased blankets, made trades which they never fallowed through on (including land), and to this day still own their land, they raped and pillaged pretty much all indian colonies. look at indian populations from preconolization and now, i think you'll find they're pretty much extinct.

Yea true, but my contention is that in general this is from diseases.  Sure there are cases where settlers handed diseased blankets over to them.  But what you have to realize was that just white people being in contact with the Indians was enough to spread diseases sometimes all around the tribe, destroying their numbers.  You act like they were so evil, which they were sometimes, but the majority of the disease spreading was not intentional

Well, his cousin wasn't his wife.  I was mistaken, but I wasn't completely fabricating lies...

Angelika Maria "Geli" Raubal[1] (June 4, 1908 – September 19/18, 1931).[2] Born in Linz, Austria, she was the second child and eldest daughter of Leo Raubal Sr. and Adolf Hitler's half sister, Angela Raubal. She was Hitler's niece and rumoured to be his lover (Hitler's own mother Klara was his father Alois' cousin).

But, Hitler's mom was also his dad's cousin.  Incest.  :snowman:

Meh, it's a rumor, and a far cry from more direct incest. I mean, cousins are too close in my book, but I wouldn't be grossed out by it.

Also, the risk of genetic defects is a lot lower.

Auto-Summary
**Summary:** The post argues that while the loss of life among Native Americans during colonization was immense, the overwhelming majority of deaths were due to diseases brought by Europeans, such as smallpox, measles, and influenza, to which indigenous populations had no immunity. It cites historical sources and Wikipedia articles to support this claim, emphasizing that epidemics, not intentional acts like the blanket incident referenced, were the primary cause of the population decline. The post also discusses specific examples of devastating smallpox outbreaks and their impact on various Native American groups, concluding that disease was the overwhelming factor in the population collapse.

Seuss said:
> Yea we killed a lot of native americans, but the vast majority died because of diseases that they couldn't fight off.

Come on Seuss, do you have any evidence for this claim? As far as I can tell based on researching this, there has been only a few claims that this ever occurred. The VAST majority of deaths occurred because the Indians could not handle fighting off the disease when the settlers showed up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_history_of_American_indigenous_peoples
"Disease began to kill immense numbers of indigenous Americans soon after Europeans and Africans began to arrive in the New World, bringing with them the infectious diseases of the Old World. One reason this death toll was overlooked (or downplayed) is that disease, according to the widely held theory, raced ahead of European immigration in many areas, thus often killing off a sizable portion of the population before European observations (and thus written records) were made. After the epidemics had already killed massive numbers of American natives, many European immigrants who arrived assumed that the natives had always been few in number. The scope of the epidemics over the years was enormous, killing millions of people—in excess of 90% of the population in the hardest hit areas—and creating "the greatest human catastrophe in history, far exceeding even the disaster of the Black Death of medieval Europe"[9] that killed up to one-third of the people in Europe between 1347 and 1351.

The most devastating disease was smallpox, but other deadly diseases included typhus, measles, influenza, bubonic plague, mumps, yellow fever, and pertussis (whooping cough). The Americas also had endemic diseases, perhaps including an unusually virulent type of syphilis, which soon became rampant in the Old World. (This transfer of disease between the Old and New Worlds was part of the phenomenon known as the "Columbian Exchange"). The diseases brought to the New World proved to be exceptionally deadly."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Americans_in_the_United_States
"The European colonization of the Americas nearly obliterated the populations and cultures of the Native Americans. From the 16th through the 19th centuries, the population of Native Americans in what became the United States was ravaged by European colonization in the following ways: violence and possible genocide[4] at the hands of European explorers and colonists, epidemic diseases brought from Europe, displacement from their lands, enslavement, internal warfare[5] as well as high rate of intermarriage.[6][7] Most mainstream scholars now believe that, among the various contributing factors, epidemic disease was the overwhelming cause of the population decline of the American natives.[8][9][10][11]"

Same Article:
"The first Native American group encountered by Christopher Columbus were the Island Arawaks (more properly called the Taino) of Boriquen (Puerto Rico), the (Quisqueya) of the Dominican Republic, and the Cubanacan (of Cuba). It has been said that of the 250,000 to one million Island Arawaks living in 1492, only about 500 had survived by the middle of the 16th century, and that the group was considered extinct by the middle of the 17th century.[citation needed] However, DNA studies show that the genetic contribution of the Taino to that region continues, and the mitochondrial DNA studies of the Taino are said to show relationships to the Northern Indigenous Nations, such as Inuit and others.[12]

European settlers brought infectious diseases against which the Native Americans had no natural immunity. Chicken pox and measles, though common and rarely fatal among Europeans, often proved deadly to Native Americans. Smallpox proved particularly deadly to Native American populations.[13] Epidemics often immediately followed European exploration, sometimes destroying entire villages. While precise figures are difficult to arrive at, some historians estimate that up to 80% of some Native populations died due to European diseases.[14]

In 1617–1619, smallpox wiped out 90% of the Massachusetts Bay Native Americans.[15] As it had done elsewhere, the virus wiped out entire population groups of Native Americans. It reached Mohawks in 1634,[16] Lake Ontario in 1636, and the lands of the Iroquois by 1679. During the 1770s, smallpox killed at least 30% of the West Coast Native Americans.[14] Smallpox epidemics in 1780–1782 and 1837–1838 brought devastation and drastic depopulation among the Plains Indians.[17][18] By 1832, the federal government established a smallpox vaccination program for Native Americans (The Indian Vaccination Act of 1832).[19][20]"

As for the blanket incident here is one example:
http://www.nativeweb.org/pages/legal/amherst/lord_jeff.html

However this was carried out in the middle to late 1700's, which if you read the links above means that the once again, the VAST majority of Indian deaths was unintentional and related to the diseases they couldn't fight off.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smallpox_epidemics_in_the_Americas
In 1519 Hernán Cortés landed on the shores of what is now Mexico and was then the Aztec empire. In 1520 another group of Spanish arrived in Mexico from Hispaniola, bringing with them the smallpox which had already been ravaging that island for two years. When Cortés heard about the other group, he went and defeated them. In this contact, one of Cortés's men contracted the disease. When Cortés returned to Tenochtitlan, he brought the disease with him.

Soon, the Aztecs rose up in rebellion against Cortés and his men. Outnumbered, the Spanish were forced to flee. In the fighting, the Spanish soldier carrying smallpox died. After the battle, the Aztecs contracted the virus from the invaders' bodies.[citation needed] Cortes would not return to the capital until August 1521. In the meantime smallpox devastated the Aztec population. It killed most of the Aztec army and 25% of the overall population.[citation needed] A Spanish priest left this description: "As the Indians did not know the remedy of the disease…they died in heaps, like bedbugs. In many places it happened that everyone in a house died and, as it was impossible to bury the great number of dead, they pulled down the houses over them so that their homes become their tombs."[citation needed] On Cortés's return, he found the Aztec army’s chain of command in ruins. The soldiers who lived were still weak from the disease. Cortés then easily defeated the Aztecs and entered Tenochtitlán.[citation needed] The Spaniards said that they could not walk through the streets without stepping on the bodies of smallpox victims.[citation needed]

The effects of smallpox on Tahuantinsuyu (or the Inca empire) were even more devastating. Beginning in Colombia, smallpox spread rapidly before the Spanish invaders first arrived in the empire. The spread was probably aided by the efficient Inca road system. Within months, the disease had killed the Sapa Inca Huayna Capac, his successor, and most of the other leaders. Two of his surviving sons warred for power and, after a bloody and costly war, Atahualpa become the new Sapa Inca. As Atahualpa was returning to the capital Cuzco, Francisco Pizarro arrived and through a series of deceits captured the young leader and his best general. Within a few years smallpox claimed between 60% and 90% of the Inca population,[63] with other waves of European disease weakening them further. A handful of historians argue that a disease called Bartonellosis may have been responsible for some outbreaks of illness, but this opinion is in the scholarly minority.[64] The effects of smallpox were depicted in the ceramics of the Moche people of ancient Peru.[65]

Nice try though, Im glad to see the anti-American settler propaganda machine is in full effect

Auto-Summary
This post delves into Austria's complex relationship with Nazi Germany, focusing on the Anschluss in 1938. The author, an Austrian, expresses pride in their heritage and acknowledges the nation's resistance to Nazi oppression. However, they also highlight significant animosity between Austrians and Germans today. The post references historical events, including the Nazi invasion greeted by cheering Austrians, and the subsequent brutal suppression of political opponents. It notes that while the Nazi regime did target Jews and other dissenters, many Austrians initially welcomed the annexation. The author concludes by emphasizing the contradiction in Austrian public sentiment during the Anschluss, with some initially celebrating while others later faced severe consequences. The overall message is that Austria's past with Nazi Germany is marked by both resistance and complicity, with most Austrians ultimately supporting the annexation.

Do I?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anschluss

"On the morning of 12 March, the 8th Army of the German Wehrmacht crossed the German-Austrian border. They did not face resistance by the Austrian Army—on the contrary, the German troops were greeted by cheering Austrians with Hitler salutes, Nazi flags and flowers. By this the NS invasion into Austria without one single shooting is also called "Blumenkrieg" (war of flowers). For the Wehrmacht this invasion was the first big test of its machinery. Although the invading forces were badly organized and coordination between the units was poor, it mattered little because no fighting took place. It did, however, serve as a warning to German commanders in future military operations, such as that against Czechoslovakia.

Hitler's car crossed the border in the afternoon at Braunau, his birthplace. In the evening, he arrived at Linz and was given an enthusiastic welcome in the city hall. The atmosphere was so intense that Göring, in a telephone call that evening, stated: "There is unbelievable jubilation in Austria. We ourselves did not think that sympathies would be so intense."

Hitler's further travel through Austria changed into a triumphal tour that climaxed in Vienna, on 2 April 1938, when around 200,000 Austrians gathered on the Heldenplatz (Square of Heroes) to hear Hitler proclaim the Austrian Anschluss.[4] Hitler later commented: "Certain foreign newspapers have said that we fell on Austria with brutal methods. I can only say: even in death they cannot stop lying. I have in the course of my political struggle won much love from my people, but when I crossed the former frontier (into Austria) there met me such a stream of love as I have never experienced. Not as tyrants have we come, but as liberators."[5] The Anschluss was given immediate effect by legislative act on 13 March, subject to ratification by a plebiscite. Austria became the province of Ostmark, and Seyss-Inquart was appointed Governor. The plebiscite was held on 10 April and officially recorded a support of 99.73% of the voters.[6]"

It is true that the Nazi's got rid of many political opponents in Austria however
"Hitler's brutal methods to emasculate any opposition were immediately implemented in the weeks preceding the referendum. Even before the first German soldier crossed the border, Heinrich Himmler and a few SS officers landed in Vienna to arrest prominent representatives of the First Republic such as Richard Schmitz, Leopold Figl, Friedrich Hillegeist and Franz Olah. During the few short weeks between the Anschluss and the plebiscite, Social Democrats, Communists, and other potential political dissenters, as well as Jews, were rounded up and either imprisoned or sent to concentration camps. Within only a few days of 12 March, 70,000 people had been arrested. The referendum itself was subject to large-scale propaganda and to the abrogation of the voting rights of around 400,000 people (nearly 10% of the eligible voting population), mainly former members of left-wing parties and Jews.[6]

While historians concur that the result itself was not manipulated, the voting process was neither free nor secret. Officials were present directly beside the voting booths and received the voting ballot by hand (in contrast to a secret vote where the voting ballot is inserted into a closed box). In some remote areas of Austria the referendum on the independence of Austria on 13 March was held despite the Wehrmacht's presence in Austria (it took up to 3 days to occupy every part of Austria). For instance, in the village of Innervillgraten a majority of 95% voted for Austria's independence.[2]"

"The picture of Austria in the first days of its existence in the Third Reich is one of contradictions: at one and the same time, Hitler's terror regime began to tighten its grip in every area of society, beginning with mass arrests and thousands of Austrians attempting to flee in every direction; yet Austrians could be seen cheering and welcoming German troops entering Austrian territory. Many Austrian political figures did not hesitate to announce their support of the Anschluss and their relief that it happened without violence.

Cardinal Theodor Innitzer (a political figure of the CS) declared as early as 12 March: "The Viennese Catholics should thank the Lord for the bloodless way this great political change has occurred, and they should pray for a great future for Austria. Needless to say, everyone should obey the orders of the new institutions." The other Austrian bishops followed suit some days later. Vatican Radio, however, immediately broadcast a vehement denunciation of the German action, and Cardinal Pacelli, the Vatican Secretary of State, ordered Innitzer to report to Rome. Before meeting with the pope, Innitzer met with Pacelli, who had been outraged by Innitzer's statement. He made it clear that Innitzer needed to retract; he was made to sign a new statement, issued on behalf of all the Austrian bishops, which provided: “The solemn declaration of the Austrian bishops ... was clearly not intended to be an approval of something that was not and is not compatible with God's law”. The Vatican newspaper also reported that the bishops' earlier statement had been issued without the approval from Rome.

Robert Kauer, president of the minority Lutheran Church in Austria, greeted Hitler on 13 March as "saviour of the 350,000 German Protestants in Austria and liberator from a five-year hardship." Even Karl Renner, the most famous Social Democrat of the First Republic, announced his support for the Anschluss and appealed to all Austrians to vote in favour of it on 10 April.[2]"

"For decades, the victim theory established in the Austrian mind remained largely undisputed. The Austrian public was only rarely forced to confront the legacy of the Third Reich (most notably during the events of 1965 concerning Taras Borodajkewycz, a professor of economic history notorious for anti-Semitic remarks, when Ernst Kirchweger, a concentration camp survivor, was killed by a right-wing protester during riots). It was not until the 1980s that Austrians were finally massively confronted with their past. The main catalyst for the start of a Vergangenheitsbewältigung was the so-called Waldheim affair. The Austrian reply to allegations during the 1986 Presidential election campaign that successful candidate and former UN Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim had been a member of the Nazi party and of the infamous SA (he was later absolved of direct involvement in war crimes) was that scrutiny was an unwelcome intervention in the country's internal affairs. Despite the politicians' reactions to international criticism of Waldheim, the Waldheim affair started the first serious major discussion on Austria's past and the Anschluss."

Sorry to bust your bubble there, but your country loved some Nazi's. True if you were Jewish you were killed, so I doubt those people love the Nazi's. They also killed off some liberals, communists that sort of thing. The majority of your country however, supported the annexation by Germany. As cited above a town did in fact vote against joining Germany, however the vast majority voted for it. Have you seen pictures or movies from when Hitler was greeting people in Vienna? Jesus

Lol good ol wiki.
Here is a little from the wiki article on the history of genocide.
[edit] United States of America
Main article: Native Americans in the United States
Authors such as the Holocaust expert David Cesarani have argued that the government and policies of the United States of America against certain indigenous peoples constituted genocide. David Cesarani states that "in terms of the sheer numbers killed, the Native American Genocide exceeds that of the Holocaust".[22] He quotes David E. Stannard, author of American Holocaust,[23] who speaks of the "genocidal and racist horrors against the indigenous peoples that have been and are being perpetrated by many nations in the Western Hemisphere, including the United States..."[24] He continues "Stannard was angered by what he perceived as a double standard in the United States towards 'worthy' and 'unworthy' victims. While Americans readily acknowledge the Nazi crimes against the Jews, he wrote, they continued to 'turn their backs on the even more massive genocide that for four grisly centuries... was perpetrated against the "unworthy" natives of the Americas.'" [25] Cesarani also writes of Stannard's and Ward Churchill's suspicion that the "ignorance of the Native American genocide was partly due to the enormous attention devoted to the Holocaust [in the United States]. Added to these cultural and political trends in the United States was the seemingly never-ending crisis in the Middle East... much of the debate over uniqueness, therefore, seems to be an overt product of partisan politics." [26]

Michno estimates 21,586 dead, wounded, and captured civilians and soldiers for the period of 1850–1890 alone.[27]

In God, Greed, and Genocide: The Holocaust Through the Centuries, Grenke quotes Chalk and Jonassohn with regards to the Cherokee Trail of Tears that "an act like the Cherokee deportation would almost certainly be considered an act of genocide today". [28] The Indian Removal Act of 1830 led to the Trail of Tears. About 17,000 Cherokees — along with approximately 2,000 black slaves owned by Cherokees — were removed from their homes.[29] The number of people who died as a result of the Trail of Tears has been variously estimated. American doctor and missionary Elizur Butler, who made the journey with one party, estimated 4,000 deaths.[30]

Yes I agree the settlers did horrible things to the Native Americans, however my point is that
a.) diseases were responsible as I showed above for the VAST majority of deaths, I guess you missed that part
b.)the blanket theory that we spread the diseases intentionally is false except for a few cited cases that happened in the late 1700's well after the vast majority of indians died.

Just read my post above
