You could go to a car graveyard where they crush cars. Ask them to use it and throw em a 20? Probably privately owned so they would not care much.

yes...

we currently have a vice system, but it only does 6qts at a time... and applies about 600lbs of pressure.

works great, but if your doing 600qts of substrate, it is damn tedious.

Just looking for some new ideas.

To the OP:

Get a ramp that would be used to drive a car into the back of a truck for shipping.  Get one with a flat portion on at least one of the sides.  It should be easy to find one with a thick, deep bar running across the width of the base on the front or the back.  Ideally you'd want this type of set up with two other contact points, where the wheel ramps touch the ground.  Drive your car on it.  Voila.  I don't know how involved in this you want to get, but you could get a ramp big enough to put your entire car on and get about a third of your car's weight.  833 lbs of pressure or so :shrug:

i wouldnt begin to know where to tell you to start with it, but im sure you could build a hydraulic compactor of some sort.

I know fuck all about air pressure, is it possible to build a metal tank that could hold that much PSI, and do they make compressors that could supply it? 02 might become liquid before it gets that pressurized, I dunno.

A hydraulic log splitter FTW: just modify the head. there is another kind with the wedge on the bottom and a flat square on the piston, just find a piece of metal that will go over the wedge and make a flat surface (12' x 12)

definitely some good ideas guys... I knew that the shroomery would come through.

for $75 i can get one of those hydraulic presses that applies 6tons of pressure. That sounds like my best bet...
