what do you all think about this phone...

im planning on buying a new cell phone soon and think this might be the one. i'll mainly be using it for the internet rather than talking.

does anyone have this phone? i know In(di)go does.

seen it.. looks like an iphone rip. been in dev for a while.

i like samsung a lot.

i got a blackberry pearl and it's fckin sweet. (got it for free)

looks tight i've seen videos. but i wouldn't call it an iphone killer or anything (not that you did) it is significantly cheaper though i think. it will prob require a plan upgrade though.

the samsung f700 is about the same price as an iphone but it has the slideout keyboard. the f700 doesn't have WIFI though, but im planning on getting an unlimited data plan.

what IS so great about the iphone? it just seems like when i compair it to other like it, they are the same. what are it's main benefits over other similar phones?

badass camera touch screen wifi tons of programs it's thin and looks sexy integrated with itunes plays mp3s etc..

you should also look into the voyager and the at&t tilt..

if it was me i would get the iphone but i like my blackberry and i already got an ipod touch.

Note that its a GSM phone. This will affect who you choose as your service provider.

Make sure it runs Windows mobile. This will allow you to expand/add programs. This will be something you want if you plan on using the internet because you'll want to sign up for skyfire, or use opera mini (mobile browsers).

Without getting in to too much discussion, the major reason NOT to get an iphone is it's not 3g. This means that if you are out of wireless range, you pretty much drop internet connnectivity.

Someone mentioned the tilt and I'd look into it. You'll be paying about $100 month with At&T for unlimited service so cost isn't huge.

I use the HTC 8525 (The one previous to the Tilt) and it is WAY badass.

Has Wifi, is quad-band...it does pretty much everything I could want.

The Samsung you posted has a funky screen resolution and is a tri-band. I think you'd be disappointed by your internet speeds.

Wi-fi is crucial.

And yes, make sure you get one with windows mobile.

For a browser, use Opera Mini (best out there, I guarantee). You can also do fun stuff like add music, movies, and even play old console games (I've been playing Final Fantasy VI on my phone for the last few months!)

this thread is hilarity.

i find it funny when people say "oh that looks like the iphone" when they have no idea about hardware, ui or interaction design.

big difference between the f700 and the iphone...keyboard, has a physically smaller screen than the iphone, the lcd display isn't as good as the iphone, but it supports hsdpa, though doesn't have wifi (which sucks ass imo but u said you're getting an unlimited data plan) has haptic feedback, has an ok ui (croix i think)..etc i can go on and on. but to summarize, it's a good phone compared to other touch ui and keyboard phones (i.e. blackjack, htc models). it's built more solid that's for sure than htc phones which feel like flimsy pieces of shit in your hand.

i say go for the phone, the only phone which can definitely kick its ass is the se xperia but that's coming out next year...that runs windows mobile but after taking a look at the device the only wow about it is the start screen and everything else is boring windows mobile.

I'll be able to post from my touch soon enough, once Skyfire supports multi-line input. For me, the embedded flash/video beats any advantage Opera mini has.

I've never used/heard of skyfire. Just signed up for beta 2, I'll have to check it out.
