Meh. I don't really get why people hate hip-hop so much. There's a lot of shit rappers out there just like any other genre has shitty artists. There's also a lot of amazing soulful music out there that people dismiss instantly just because it's hip-hop.

Anyway I thought it was a really funny interview, at least he's speaking his mind even if he is a prick IRL, give me interesting characters over washed-out, repetitive commercial jokers any day.

I've always appreciated X. His music is what brought me back to rap after the fall of the west and the rise of the Puffy sampled bubble gum pop rap garbage. And while I've grown out of most rap (most music period) he's as real as there has ever been. He wasn't a studio creation, and he spit it in a very unique and real way, truly original.

Mainstream rap is generally not so great so I could see why everyone gets the impression that "rap sucks"

Not a huge rap fan myself, but I'm even less a fan of broad over-generalization.

I can't believe we have so many people on the boards that shit on hip-hop and rap. I understand if you don't connect with it...but there really is some amazing stuff out there (as far as hip-hop goes.)

When someone has something worth while to say, no matter what kind of music, IMO it's worthy.

I generally hate rap, but I have heard some intelligent/conscious hip hop shit that has blown my mind before.. so I try to not generalize. Judge on an individual basis.
