Wierd Mutation? Safe?
    #807183 -

Just wondering if this is safe to eat. The pic is a little grainy, but the curl on top of the cap appears to be a second stem, atleast, that?s what it looks like. I would have taken a pic when it was fresh, but I just got my digi cam today.

Thanks,
Alatore

too blurry. any mutation should be safe, unless some contamination was the cause. If it just deformed, then it should be ok, but Im not sure.

Second stems aren't that uncommon. They can be weird and mishaped and still be good shrooms. I would look for any kind of growth on the mushroom that doesn't look like mycellium. Look for discolorations and any odd odors. If it's just mangled, then it should be okay.

Hey,
From what I could make out from that blurry pic of yours...
It looks like rosecomb a mutation caused by contact with petroleum based solvents...
