Ok can someone please shed a little light on what the hell they are growing those plants in in this sponsors website.

Looks like singular lettuce in water/nute solution, not really gel. If you wanted gel, look for what they grow the lucky bamboo or whatever they are called in.

From having a quick scan of the site it could just be an aero garden without much growth, why not just ask the site you got the pic from ?
