Anyone currently taking Lexapro or have experience with it in the past? Thoughts on it's effectiveness, side effects, or anything else reguarding this or other SSRIs. I just got put on 10mg.

opensaysme, i've tried lexapro before as well as a few of the other ssri's.

if you're taking it for depression and are ok with the idea of not being able to have sex, I say stay on it.

if you're taking it for anxiety, it will just kind of muffle those anxious feelings, but they will definitely still be there.

the ability to ejaculate or maintain an erection is very rare on ssri's. chances are about 90-95% that it will happen to you.

but, hey, if you're really depressed and your life isn't going so well, then sex shouldn't be a concern anyway.

only drugs that seriously help for anxiety are benzo's such as valium, klonopin, and xanax. if you're older (they usually don't give them to young people because of abuse potential), odds are your doctor will prescribe them along with the ssri.

haha,

in regards to that whole cumming thing. when I first started taking lexapro, I got a huge boost in confidence and couldn't believe how easy it was for me to start picking up girls. but, where things backfired was when I realized that I could never cum. it was like bizarro world or something.

chicks loved that I could go continuously without cumming, but I always felt sour and bitter at the end of the night though with my blue balls and swollen wanger.

Lexapro worked real well for me, and I did not have any side effects. I thought the sex side effect was uncommon?

I was on zoloft for a year and while i could definitely still maintain a fine erection and have plenty of sex (actually increased stamina because of numbing) I noticed that orgasm just wasnt the same anymore. It was so gradual though that i didnt really notice this until I quit the meds and then had sex for the first time after a month without the pills. WOW!

Have you noticed any differences as of yet?

I hope they are helping you though because its no fun being sad all the time. I still battle with it every now and then but im reluctant to get back on the meds. Im trying other things.
