Niggy Tardust? (nin produced)

This is probably old news, but NIN frontman Trenty Reznor recently (2 months ago) produced an album for Saul Williams. With Reznors new found freedom from a record label produced it among other things in house and released it via the net.
Sauls new album was released online from NIN.com for free. Yes you can pay for it via a $5 charge, or just get it for free in vein of a new era for the music industry.
At any rate, I listened to Sauls Album and really the only track that I like at all is the "Black History Month" track. The beat and retarded vocals (listen and you will know what I mean) are in sync somehow. Maybe like Aphex Twin in his chaos theory music.
I said all of this to say this. What do you guys think of the Niggy Tardust album? I am a fair fan of NIN and only liked one song of of this newly self produced venture.
Anyway.
Happy New Year All.

Honestly, it was without a doubt the worst album I have ever heard. I love NIN, and I love rap, but it just sucked. Trent should stick to industrial.

That's good to hear, in that I am not the only one.
I consider myself a hard core NIN fan, but even now I have to draw the line. BUT, from what the specific NIN messages boards praise I should be elated at this masterful piece of art ?
But I am not, I stick by NIN all the way, but this thing is just not that good......

Niggy Tardust? Is this in any way related to David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust? I cannot possibly imagine them sounding anything alike.

EXACTLY.
I think it's a blank rip off.....It would be one thing if the music was outstanding and a new creative venture.
However, it's not this un categorabilize piece of art, as so many hard core NIN fans would label it as.....to me it's just random noise created in the vein of NIN. However done in the "black" form of music.
Meaning, he uses a lot of beats and talks about hoe's and Ni****** alot.
That is not to say that, that music isn't any good. I rather enjoy a good bit of hip hop / rap / gangster.
But this thing is just not that good, and they still try to label it as something so great and new age era........
No sir, I don't like it.

Someone needs to link me up! I love NIN seen them multiple times live and I somehow completely missed even hearing about this project. I'd love to hear it if someone could link me to a sample or something.

I think the album is pretty good. It's not a 10, but it has several excellent tracks.

Reznor fucked that album up.
Saul's first two albums are amazing, their really innovative and had their own sound. This album's sound is just really old already reznor has been recycling the same shit for some time now and i'm sick of it.

if you're strictly a NIN fan why did you expect to be pleased when you downloaded a hiphop album?
unlike Faaip, i liked the music on the album, generally i think it goes well with saul williams. i think saul goofed on the lyrics in the album though... i was completely blown away by this, saul williams is seriously primo music
