Hey Guys, I'm putting together a demo reel for an internship. (Game audio)
My demo reel is going to be 5 or 6 tracks. I'm setting aside this one as my sound design (and sci-fi) track. I wanted to show some sort of example in layering and building up samples.
This is not complete yet...I'm really looking for feedback as I let my ears rest and before I start up on it again. I'm in the beginning stages so major changes would be pretty easy. Does it work as a whole? Do any samples stand out that don't seem to fit? Strong Points? Weak points? Should I add more samples? Really any sort of words will do. I really do appreciate any help!

I'm no expert here, so I dunno if I know what i'm talking about really.
Your pretty talented man. I can't wait till the day I can add samples like those into some of my instrument tracks.
I like how it starts off with the guy talking, it's really fitting. The beat comes in nicely and sets the feel/vibe of the entire song really well. There is this neat "rising/building" sounding sample that starts at around 15 seconds to really bring it into the beat.
The little random voice samples that periodically can be heard aren't to distracting and that being said, add to it nicely.
There this really neat deeper trippy voice that starts around 46 sec that I really like. I have no idea what gibberish is being said, but it's cool.
The countdown thing and airplane noises or whatever you would describe that starts around 1:38 meshes really good, but I find that it builds up to a part I found a little overcrowded I guess. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's so miniscule. It still sounds pretty neat, but if I HAD to pick one part that was my least favourite it would be that part. But like I said, it's so miniscule, especially because it's only like 12-14 seconds...because it then drops/cuts right off at 2:00 and goes back to the dude talking and whatnot. I like that cutoff part.
Very well done man. I can't believe that's extremely rough/early stages.

Very nice, thanks a lot guys! Zoo...your exactly what I was looking for, great fucking post. That part is critical for me to get right...I want it really full sounding...on the verge of chaos...almost going out of control. I think I lost control, and that was what you were hearing. I'll be going back and cleaning that up.
You other guys, I'm happy you like it.

It did come out surprisingly fast...but at this point, I'm keeping the overall structure. Its rough in the since I've not done a whole lot EQ/Mixing it. Content wise...I might add or take out something...but that's the track. Its going to take some time...I've got a lot of things going off in the track that need to meld and work together a bit more.
The thing is...I want to get a mix that sounds really good on any system, so I'm going to really put some time into that post-production aspect of it. I really never do that with any of my other stuff. With this demo reel...everything needs to be mixed well and sound good on any medium.
