Does anyone know how to change a bitmap picture file to a jpg with Irfanview? Or after scanning a picture, how to get rid of the white border? Thank you for your help.

Save as...
Then choose .jpg in the format setting.

Select the part you want too keep by dragging a box, then choose Edit / Crop selection.
