yeah man, i live in northern alabama and we have had no significant amount of rainfall that would yield any shrooms. i'm fuck'n pissed about the drought thing. i've been out a few times this year, but had no luck what so ever. someone do a rain-dance for us up in northern bama.

The mushrooms will not fruit during the extremely hot weather.

This is the way it is.

You have to wait now for summer to be over in Florida before they return. When it is too hjot, they are not.

mj-
The hot weather isn't the problem.
The problem is that the rains were about 2 months late.
Now we have to wait for the wild mycelial networks to grow before we can go pickin'.

The shrooms will be here by another 2-3 weeks. It just means that the growing season will last until September.

Look, the drought is O_V_E_R_.

You might not be finding many shrooms because you are going at the nighttime.

The mushrooms are in the W_O_O_D_S_ ya see.

And the woods, at night, are, scarey. As soon as the night comes, then all them mushroom spores start to circle around like little cyclones, sticking onto everything. This in turn makes all the nightcreatures crazy, and that is why we dont go into the woods, at night, in florida hahehehaheh. Im Serious.

Just look at this big ass shroom I found today...ok, now look at those woods in the backround... HAHAHAHA, we dont go in there at night. Nut Uh. I was of course lucky enough to find this shroom in the open field, but Just LOOOK at that Forest. Its creepy

:uploads/CubeBig:

you dont want to go in there at night heheh heheheh I am very serious.

Hey GGreatOne234,

You only found six mushrooms in that field and from the looks of them already a little dried from the sun tells me it was the end of the flush and those are what remained.

You posted six fotos at drooldonkey, including that one here and said you found them with little ease, yet that must have been all you found out there so that tells me they are gone from there or you would have mentioned finding more. And they ae not in the greatest of healthy conditions, yet they are still potent. I have also seen them in that stage and I usually avoid them like that.

Have a shroomy day and they will not generally grow in real hot weather regardless of rain. Although a few could pop up it is extrememly rare between July and August. Even in the Pacific northwest.

mj, mj, mj. Mister Shroomer. Oh you know I Will have a Shroomy little day!

Yes, six cubensis from yesterday was all I found, but it only took me ten minutes to find them and then I left. Things are not slowing down as of yet, Ill be a pal and let you in on that. The mushroom pictured above in my last reply to this topic, had a eight inch stem on it, and I assure you it was plenty healthy enough to eat. I also assure you that you would not have passed any of them up. The thing almost tipped me over trying to take a picture of it.

"Oh what is that I hear outside my window??? Is that rain??? Yes I think it is.."

ok, here is my "Shroom Picture Exclusive", presented to mr. mjshroomer ("The Shroom King of the World") heheheh

Ggreat- I gather from two fields in the same general area. The first is woody that typically brings lower yields than the second, but has shrooms more often. The second is a large pasture that has almost NO trees and yields are quite large when the grass is tall enough to keep a high humidity around the patties. Last summer (99) I pulled 5 pounds from just ONE outing and I only covered half the field.

I'm just saying that the delayed rains have delayed the shroom season because the grass hasn't grown tall enough yet. But this was a week ago. This next weekend, I'm sure I'll get a rather substantial yield.

It's not getting too hot. Both yesterday and today I found more than 300 shrooms in S. Florida. They are just now starting to pop and they will continue as long as it continues to rain. Peace.

yeah, too bad two hundred and ninety were copelandias and the other ten were cubes.
(heheheheheh, im just messin with you)

About 2-3 dozen cubes per person in a hours time Tops. TOPS. I'm happy just finding a dozen ina hour right now.

August in florida is the hottest, crappiest, shittiest, nastiest, worse damn time to go looking for mushrooms. Hardcore in my books. The bugs like to go inside all the mushrooms during weather like that...they like to bite sweaty little mushroom pickers like yourself too (). And the potency of the shroom is half what it should be.

Keep on gettin them shrooms though buddy!, its been raining for days and days, I picked over 70 copelandias off of one pie two days ago

I'm just saying go get as many of them now and dry them out to save for things like THE DROUGHT OF 2000...part 2??? I'm sure not worrying about that, I'm set.
