Im not religious, i dont want to become religious, and from my limited knowledge, i basically think the old testament is completely bullshit.
I dont normally read (fiction) books, but i do read magazines, news articles, the internet, lots of fact-based information.
Is it worth reading?

yeah...it's one of the few books out there that will simultaneously enlighten you, and cast you into a never-ending pit of disinformation

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'm beginning to feel like Judaism and Christianity are massive puzzles that about 95% of their adherents are content with skimming the surface of.

Read it, and then you'll find out why God hates you so much.

read genesis, exodus, and one of the gospels.
then you'll at least know the back story.
it's actually relatively entertaining

It depends on what you're hoping to get out of it.
Some of the books are interesting from a historical perspective.
Then you have your morality tales... (yeah, no shit...)
Even if you don't believe in it, there is some wisdom to be found in there. And some of it can be entertaining. The above mentioned books, at least, are good to just get the general idea.
Some of the stories in the old testament are pretty interesting, IMO.
The book of Revelation is one of the creepiest horror stories I've ever read. And disturbingly, there are people who not only fully believe it, but WANT those things to happen, and are willing to do whatever they can to make it... (people like Bush and his cronies...)
Anyway, give it a try and see what you think. It can't hurt.

If you want to give it a shot I suggest you pay attention to which version you grab. Some are easier to read than other.
Personally I would avoid King James Version unless you read Shakespeare for relaxation and go for NIV. It is written in a more current fashion. You could actually read and absorb instead of just trying to translate.

In private I admit BIBLE = complete shit. In public I will tell you you should read it to be tolerant. However, my main reason for telling people to read it is so they can make better arguments against Christians.
New International Version is the least cryptic and easiest to read.
