1g/w is NOT what a grower usually gets. it is the pinnacle of efficiency that growers strive for. why are you using metal halide instead of HPS? i've always read that HPS are more suited for flowering if it's going to be your only source of light. you could add a 150w HPS in there with the MH to fill out the spectrum more, and simply give your baby more light.
as was already suggested, with a lower power light like you plan to use, it'd probably be worth your while to lst and/or scrog to increase canopy size and maximize light efficiency. if i were you, i'd actually do two plants in 1 x 2 ft rectangular pots with individual scrog screens. that gives you the opportunity to have a decent supply of 2 different kinds of smoke, and you can time it so that you have a harvest every 6 weeks, instead of one every 12 weeks.
