abusive alcoholic last night

Last night I was well aware that a friend of mine was very drunk and beating his girlfriend. She actually messaged me asking/begging/ for help, for me to come over.
I was stoned. I didn't give a fuck. I didn't help her.
I was going to write a few paragraphs trying to justify my actions for not helping (which I actually did.. but deleted)
I'll just leave it at that.
I will confront my friend about his drinking. I doubt it will do much.

several years ago i had a neighbor in the same apartment building who starting beating his wife, we could hear it through the walls. I went to his door one night when i heard it start, he answered the door looking like some kind of a sheepish dick. the following day my friend and i smoked a bowl and decided it would be a good idea to break into their apartment when they were gone. So we did... and smashed up his super nintendo game collection and stole a few belongings that obviously belonged to him. shortly there after he moved out and the lady and i become good friends... i got to take over her lease when she decided to move a year later (it was a two bedroom with really cool vaulted ceilings).... yeah... that was in the 90s... i miss the 90s
so the moral to the story... don't be friends with drunken abusive assholes... steal and or break their shit, it's one of the few ways you can bolster your karma by engaging in destructive criminal acts.

good! the more implausible their claims the better. I hate smoking marijuana at this point in my life anyway, but still strongly support measures to legalize it and have worked to that end on many levels. yay for marijuana, yay for you and me

To be honest I don't know if you should have stepped in or not.
I was in an abusive relationship for a few years. Cops would show up and I'd lie to them. Why? I don't know. Friends would try to help and I'd let them, move out and a week later be back.
No one can help if she stays. Not really. Until she's ready to go it could just cause the problems to escalate. But they'll do that anyway. I'd definitely lose the friend tho. Men who abuse women (whether drunk or sober) are usually cowards who take out their problems on the weakest person around.
I hope the girl leaves him.

Don't feel too bad.
Women who stay with abusive boyfriends can only help themselves.
Confront your friend, tell his girlfriend to GTFO while she can.
It probably won't help.

(original poster here)
The cops actually did show up that night (she pleaded help to one of her other friends and her friend called the cops to their residence). She told me that when the cops showed up she lied to them, said he didn't hit her. I'm very surprised the police didn't do anything that night.
She says she won't get police involved because a) he's on probation, would go back to jail b) if he went to jail, she would be stuck with all the bills c) they have a 7 month old daughter together d) she loves him...
again, the whole time she was on the phone with me she was piss drunk as well.. and in the middle of her pleading me to come over, saying how scared she is-- she just stops and starts going on about her pack of smokes. I kind of raised the eyebrow ... leads me to believe she is making drama where there shouldn't be.

how do you know he was beating her? I mean maybe she just liked rough kinky sex like that, you know? I've met some strange women in my time.
