On this week's show:

Featured New Rock Album: Warm in the Wake, *American Prehistoric* (2007)...earlier this year this show featured this Georgia band's great EP, *Gold Dust Trail*....now they return with a new full-length epic...there are moments where they tap into '70s pop-jazz, and moments when I could swear I was listening to the Jayhawks country psychedelia...just fine, and after some familiarity, very very fine...

Featured Classic Rock Album: Steve Miller Band, *Fly Like an Eagle* (1976)...Steve Miller was a peculiar entity to the 1970s, like Steely Dan, the Eagles, and Pink Floyd, creating a sound of those times...Miller's music was funny, trippy, slyly sarcastic, fun but not dumb...this album came out during his best years, when nearly every song of his floated way up there...

Storybook Time: Chapter Two of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...

Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is...the soundtrack to the Rolling Stones' "Rock and Roll Circus" extravaganza, also the featuring the likes of The Who, John Lennon, Jethro Tull, and Eric Clapton...KD and I saw the movie of this event one night in the desert at Burning Man 2007...this will be the first broadcast of this show from Oregon, where it rains, people chill, the grass grows really h-i-g-h, and smiles on a cloudy day abound...

Webcasting to the globe & beyond from the People's Republic of Portland, Oregon!

On this week's show:

Featured New Rock Album: Radiohead, *In Rainbows* (2007)...where they've been is watching from afar, listening, watching, readying when they'd come back with their news and music...this is the album 2007 has been waiting for...can't say what I think of this one yet, it will take many more spins to get it more than I do now...

Featured Classic Rock Album: The Rolling Stones *Some Girls* (1978)...this album is so dirty and beautiful and amazing, rocks hard twistingly, exciting every minute, the Stones blew out the doors of the punk years with something nobody quite expected from them, something so good that 30 years later most bands haven't caught its exhaust...

Storybook Time: Chapter Three of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...

Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is The Band, a Canadian group that worked with Bob Dylan early on and melded the twang of country music with rock and horns and keyboards til some new kind of rock music was suddenly extant...last week's return to air was a wild, sloppy six hour event, here's to something even more interesting this week!

On this week's show:

Featured New Rock Album: Band of Horses, *Cease to Begin* (2007)...this American band is a strange one, its music pretty and enigmatic, there's a deep shimmer in its soul, like sugar from some strange treat, down n round n in n through...

Featured Classic Rock Album: The Kinks *State of Confusion* (1983)...this UK band was obscurely famous for many years, coming and going with hard rock hits and acoustic brilliances, some funny, some angry, some wistful...this album catches their late 1970s/early 1980s renaissance when they mattered again and people rushed back to hear more...

Storybook Time: Chapter Four of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...

Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist are some of the players from the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert back in 1993...Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Neil Young, among others...two weeks in a row the 'net has hampered my show in its new location...I think the bugs are worked out...I hope...here goes!

On this week's show:

Featured New Rock Album: Neil Young, *Chrome Dreams II* (2007)....many years ago Mr. Young recorded an unreleased volume of songs called Chrome Dreams...it kept in his head somewhere, undone but not forgotten...here some sort of sequel...a ragged glory, indeed, in all its shaggy, loud loveliness...

Featured Classic Rock Album: Jefferson Airplane, *Crown of Creation* (1968)...the Airplane flew high in the late '60s, an unlasting mix of sex n politics n harmonies mixed into masterful playing...this album from their clouds, deep with love, and a little mockery too...

Storybook Time: Chapter Five of *Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism * by Daniel Pinchbeck...

Readings from *Why?* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems...& this week's featured artist is the Jimi Hendrix Experience, its coming out party to American audiences that occurred at the Monterey Pop Festival back in June 1967...plus the blue wit of Redd Foxx, the strange wisdom of David Lynch...about to launch again, high, low, down into the gullet toward what may come out unknown wild woods or seas...250th broadcast since January 1999...wheeeeeee!
