Trying to think of a piece...

Today, I heard this piece of classical (I think?) music I really liked... I just can't find it online because I don't know the name. I think it's a pretty popular piece... In it, the strings do this really fast run up, then climax and this amazing melody begins to play... does anyone know what I'm talking about?

No, I don't remember how it went... the only thing I know is that it's a popular piece that has a challenging string part... I'm going to email the guy who played it for me and ask him what it was...

Classical music is really tough to describe accurately if you have no info on the song. As learnigtofly said, your description could be a thousand different classical tunes.

In the meantime here is a great piece I uploaded a while back.

That's the thing about any instrumental song. It's much more difficult to find out who wrote/performed the song. You can't just get on yahoo.com and type "deh, deh, deh, deh, duh, DEH, duh". I find that the hardest genres to find are classical, instrumental surf rock from the sixties and techno.

Yeah, I double-checked, it was the "1812 Overture" (by Tchaikovsky) at the end of 'V is for Vendetta'. I remembered it because the explosions were timed with the music (the music was written to have cannons fired in time with the piece).

Now I just need to find it.

I found a torrent of the Cincinatti Orchestra playing it... with a 320kb/s bitrate... which is downloading at a vision-blurring, whiteknuckle pace of 1.1kb/s. That is to say that it will take roughly 320 times longer to download than it will to play. D'oh!
