I've searched but can't find anything on this, is it possible to do an extraction to isolate the main alkaloids in kratom?

eating spoonfulls of powder and drinking shit tea isn't really for me, but crystals would be perfect, anyone have any info on this?

Me either ! I've a forest of Kratom in my yard : 6 plants all over 5 ft. tall. I've yet to get any 'altered state of conciousness', though I've not tried again since Winter. In january, we had a cold spell with nighttime temps in the upper '40's, at which time they dropped alot of leaves (plants were only about 1 ft. tall). I tried first a tea (nasty stuff) made with about a dozen leaves, and then eating about 5 or 6 dried, powdered leaves, with no discernible effect (I do have a high tolerance to Morphine).

Since then the plants have been outside, sheltered from wind, in 3 gallon pots, under full tropic sun. They get watered every day, fed about once a week. They had been in the wind, but the leaves became thin and damaged. Overall they are very healthy plants, but they will wind up on the compost heap if I can't find a way to actually use the alkaloids they're supposed to contain -- OTP.

wow those are really nice trees! definately don't throw them in the compost, I'm sure someone around you would be glad to take them off your hands.

but 12 leaf tea, and 6 leaf eaten powder... that explains why you didn't feel anything. depending how suseptible you are to kratom, you will need anywhere from 10 to 20 GRAMS of leaf to feel any effects, so give it another try, just use 10x more leaf haha.

the hasenfratz-manske vinegar extraction often gives a nice yield of crude alkaloid mix... (NaCl not always needed; then can clean up the various separate alks by playing pH & solvent games...
i posted a link to ummmm iboga alk extration somewheres around here a year or so ago...
poke around the old posts, or the pro journals, or do an online search with selective keywords...

hmm, that could work, but I don't think an initial vinegar extraction would be necessary for kratom, it doesn't seem like the leaves have a lot of fats, I think straight to base would be best.

I've been searching the net all day and it seems nobody has done it, that I know of.
so ill be buying a lot of leaf soon and doing my own experiments.

I'm gonna try a base extraction and freeze precip with supersaturated naphtha.

if that doesn't work ill try extracting with freezing acetone and clean up with 99% isopropyl.

suggestions/comments?

I'm a new age entho guy, I like my isolated alkaloids :thumbup:

10 leafs? haven't tried it, but seems like you would need a ton more leaves than that.

It worked for me...Maybe I had a potent plant...donno...It was BBBs red vien strain...

I got mild effects...nothing CRAZY...
