WWJD contamed poo?

AFOAF purchased some pre pasteurized poo from a forum sponser. It was purchased 3 monthes and stored in the box in came in as is. It was taken out of the box today and it seems to be contaminated by flying insects of some sort. They appear to be small fruit flies. He cut the bag open to see how the rest of the poo looked and there were maggots approximately 1cm long crawling throughout. He decided to take the poo out and sterilize it in the autoclave. Should he contact the vendor because the bag was never sealed? It was just taped shut with clear packing tape, allowing infestation.

WWYOUDO?

I'd suck it up as my fault for letting it sit around so long, when it needs to be used in a couple weeks tops, if I were this person.

Pasteurized substrates have a life only a couple of weeks if left uncolonized, thus there's no reason to seal the bags after pasteurization. I never do. You're supposed to use it right away.
