went out in the garage, smoked a bowl and finished my painting (pics)...

This painting I'm about to finish I have chosen to call 'The Frog King'...

It was conceived and created while soley under the influence of alcohol and cannabis this past summer.

it is a two-demensional painting...composed of a symetrical flower/plant/masculine/fenime looking thing with half a face on either side, one being male, the other being female. I should be done painting it in about 15ming (all I have to do is add sky blue background..which is small...plus one small area).

I'll post a picture of it when it's done. Let me know if your expectations were met or not.

Definitely cool. Wish I had the motivation to paint. All I ever get around to doing art-wise is a bunch of random stuff in PS and sometimes I draw stuff while I'm tripping/hung over.

As for paying for it...I am in no financial situation to be buying art. I wouldn't say it isn't worth anything though. I've seen work half as good as that going for hundreds of dollars or more.

yeah me creating art started off as just a casual doodling thing while fucked up...now i do mainly charcoal 3 deminsional drawings...i recreated a Dali in charcoal...i thought it was all right. this is actually my first painting..and it was free hand...i thought i did pretty well.

Great job, man! I think you could probably make some good money of it but if I were you, I'd keep it since it is your first painting. Good vibes to ya man, Keep on keepin' on :smirk:

Im going to be honest and not spare your feelings. I really like the middle. although the stroke work could be cleaner, its a little squiggly and the style looks like it should be straighter lines, but thats trivial. The two people on the sides suck, the color is pukish and the drawing skill is amateur. If i painted it I would have painted over the two people. and I wouldnt buy it because I dont like those people drawings, they destroy it for me. But thats just my opinion.IMO Portraits are either realism or abstract but both contain extreme detail
meaning time investment. those look like a 5min. doodle

yeah, my mother didn't like the people either.

but that's how i wanted them to look. plain and cartoonish.

thanks for you opinions though....what were you saying about brush stroke? you can actually see that from my pic?

i was using acrylics and didn't think it mattered so much (as compared to oils).

you didn't like the color?

i don't like the part below the pink flower petals...the green circles....i wish i had done that differently....but I'm not going back now. that's one problem i have...never knowing when to finish...i could probably try to perfect something in to infinity.

the concept of the shapes and everything ....i guess could be summed up as a 5 min doodle. but actually painting it...thinking about colors, and extras like the circles..symetrical lines...the "frogs" eyeballs...those were all much more than just a 5 min. doodle.

Dude you misunderstood I really like the painting. All my complaints beyond brushstroke where directed at the faces. the centerpiece visually reflects the time and effort put into it.

dirty brown color with big clown lips.

that's the thing though....they aren't supposed to be portraits.

at the beginning of the painting I didn't even know faces would emerge on either side...but i looked at the shape on either side of the flower and realized that was what they had to be.
