thinking of going to Canada
    #7250453 -

I was thinking of maybe one day packing up and moving to Windsor, Ontario or maybe some were else in Ontario. Just wanted to get some input on the cost of living there some good cheap places to live types of jobs that are available companies that are good to work for, ect, you know.

Make Canadian contacts...you'll need lots of paper work if I'm not mistaken. I have a Green card to work in the US and it was a huge big deal...blood test chest x-ray, finger prints, letters from employer etc.

I recommend that one get the ball rolling at least to be in touch with the consulate here and start filling applications and seeing what you need/make appts. for doctors when you decide it's "yes".

Make Canadian contacts. Google info Canada to get info about job opportunities. You'll need an offer b/f they'll let you in. They don't want anyone coming over and going on unemployment.

Being out of the big cities will keep the cost of living lower but not down exactly. It's expensive to live anywhere in N. America basically. Not meaning to be the voice of doom. Gas costs are sky high everywhere. That filters to everyone and everything.

Where to work depends on your resume..level of education, where your interests lie etc. right? Get job-career counseling/aptitude test.

Good luck!

Well the cost of living in Ohio isn't bad I could rent a 3 bedroom house with a basement for under 500 if I wanted my car to get stolen and my white ass to get shot but I don't. I have always kept my jobs never gotten fired or left on bad terms I stay there for years till I get layed off totally or find something better. I kinda want to start a new life away from everyone that knows me.

Windsor is one of the shittiest cities in Ontario and has the highest unemployment rate in Canada. If I were you, I'd consider the greater Toronto area instead or Alberta (lots of jobs).

Yeah I'd stay away from the St. Lawrence valley. Crowded and expensive. Alberta has jobs, but by all accounts the living expenses are ridiculous.  Good luck ever buying a house out there.  My province (Manitoba) has a growing economy and living expenses are among the lowest in Canada.  The only downside is the harsh winter and lack of mountains :frown:

That said, I loved living in BC the most.  I was just broke all the time.

I'm not interested in moving to Canada but I've wondered just how keen are Canadians towards Americans relocating there?

We reserve the right to deport them at any time, no questions asked.

I remember I lived in Ottowa for about 8 years. Nice place. Better than Illinois thats for sure. It took me 7 years to become a citizen, though:tongue:
