Mike Vick Thread.
    #7222820 -

He gets his own thread, only because this will be controversial im sure.

how do you feel about Mike Vick, before and after the newest charges.

for me, before he was just a cocky player but he could do that because he is great. atleast with his feet. after reading the full indictment, im shocked, not that he would be involved.. just at the seriousness of the charges. I still question how closely involved with this he was and look forward to more facts becoming available.

as for Roger Goodall  this is fucking america, he hasnt even had a fair trial yet and he has been told not to report to camp, aka meaning he isnt playing.

sorry animal lovers, but regardless of the crime, one is entitled to due process and shouldnt be treated like a guilty person until proven so.

Your take.

I would not call him great, hell, i barely would refer to him as good. in my mind, he is a mediocre quarterback, who can use his feet as a weapon.

but thats besides the point....

allegations are allegations of course, and im all about america and innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz......but look at the FACTS....60+ Malnourished dogs, blood stained carpets/walls, rape chairs, dog pits, syringes and all that other shit found in a home that is owned by Mike Vick. I dont care how hoo-rah about due process you are, i dont think anybody can convince me that Vick did not know what was going on in a house that he owns.

If this was some special teams player, or a 3rd string offensive lineman, the same consequences would be suffered, but unfortunatly we are talking about one of the most recognizable/marketable fan favorites in the league. Goodell did the right thing by informing him to not report to camp. one reason being, his hearing in front of a Federal Grand Jury is the same day that Atlanta training camp opens.

another reason is...this is a MAJOR headache for the league...and they dont need this circus showing up to camp every day..when the real focus should be football..not some degenerate millionare who 'allegedly' is involved in a disgusting act of dogfighting to try and earn some money on the side.

im not going to shy away from it, my real take is this. Mike Vick is still trying to live the gangsta lifestyle despite being a millionare, and the way he goes about this is by participating in this pathetic act of manhood by raising innocent animals to become killers, and then havng them fight to the bank while a bunch of punks throw $100 bills on the floor of the ring

anyway it looks like Atlanta is preparing for a future without Vick, which is all they really can do. A full trial is going to take weeks, even months. And a team cannot be without there QB for 5 days out of the week and expect to compete on Sunday. just cant happen.

its a shame that Vick put himself in this position, but he is going to have to suffer the consequences.

my prediction: guilty as charged, and at least a year in the big house, and NFL future....no more.

How many homes do NFL Players own? I wonder how many other properties Vick owns.

Idk, there arent enough FACTS out for me to make a judgement. I just think its fucked up that he lost his job without a trial.

The indictment that I read was disgusting and would be really sad if true, but idk, I really hope he wasnt involved at the level they say.

I remember watching a thing about this on ESPN while school was still in, and there was an interview with an undercover agent who was in on that stuff, and he said Vick was a pretty big player in it. I don't have any reason to doubt him, either.

Regardless of this being America, the NFL is NOT America, it's the NFL. If you are the boss of a company and there are people making your company look like a bunch of cunts, then you have every right in the world to FIRE that person, not just keep them from work or camp or whatever. I think the commish has every right to do what he's doing and he should do what he's doing.

He still made the NFL look like shit. That's probably why he hasn't been fucking fired yet, because he isn't guilty (yet.)

if he is innocent, or determined to play a minimal role, it wont be his fault the league looked like shit, it would be the FBI's and the media's fault for providing misinformation and embellishing facts.

but then again, im one of the people who says, Barry Bonds is entitled to his record.

im sorry, but owning the house where this MAJOR dog fighting ring took place will qualify as more then a 'minimal role'. to me it makes him out as a co-conspirator

Two things here.  No.1, I thought he was an entertaining novelty act; i.e. he sells tickets but doesn't necessarily contribute to the ultimate achievement which is winning the championship.  I admit this is strictly speculation but there has never been a QB who relied so much on his running as a percentage of his value.  That is something they usually delegate.  We'll see if Mr. Young can carry this torch to the promised land but I don't think he will succeed if he is as one dimensional as Vick.  I also don't think we will see Mr. Vick playing much in the future.

Which brings me to no. 2.  I also look forward to more info but this seems very very bad for Mikey.  These aren't a bunch of douchebags looking for re-election in a QB hating district.  I expect MORE charges will be brought and I suspect that there are quite a few squealers here who made statements that were collaborated by other evidence.  Somebody mentioned RICO and if they can turn a few others he's going away.  Forget football and endorsements, if they can get him on interstate gambling with a RICO twist he is well and truly fucked.  Can you say "plea bargain"?  My personal opinion is that he probably had his dick buried deeply in this, maybe not day to day ops but with a major financial interest (he had a pit bull breeding enterprise advertised on the 'net.  It's gone now) and active encouragement and gambling and dog ownership interest.  Oh yeah, for his entertainment he set his entourage up with the business and then would drop in every now and then for a fight with his big dog.  Like other guys buy restaurants so they take care of their buddies and always have a place to bring their friends where they can hang out in peace.

Nope, sorry, like it or not playing in the NFL is NOT a right.  So far he's being paid his salary but that doesn't require a conviction to terminate either.  If the NFL's own investigation finds a preponderance of evidence (NOT beyond a reasonable doubt) they can terminate his contract.  The beyond a reasonable doubt standard applies ONLY to criminal matters not civil and there are morals clauses in every NFL contract that do not require a criminal conviction to kick in.  I heard that Brand wanted to suspend him for 4 games without pay, which was the max he could do, but Goodall (sic?) asked him to do nothing pending the NFL investigation.

He can't be imprisoned, yet, but he will certainly be judged and may definitely lose league privileges.  See OJ Simpson for a legal primer on why not all standards are the same.

No, it was still his property. A role is a role, and when you're in the public eye of a major corporation (the NFL) then even minimal roles make the company look like complete shit.

And Barry Bonds has nothing to do with this. Yes, he's entitled to his record, I don't disagree with you, so don't bother bringing it up.

Even if by some miracle he is cleared of all of this and plays this season....my theory is that PETA supporters are CRAZY....crazy enough to buy off sectiions of a stadium, and fill them with rabid animal rights activists.....which in this moment, would be MORE wild/rabid/raging then the average NFL fan. im talking all 16 games...its almost not even worth it for him to play this season

Then he can sue for his pay IF he gets docked or fired. Otherwise there is no loss. Libel and slander? I dare him. He would actually have to testify in that case and I doubt he wants to get anywhere near a witness stand. He's in it up to his eyeballs anyway.

The family of Ron Goldman won a wrongful death lawsuit against Simpson and he owes them millions of dollars. That ludicrous "If I Did It" book he wrote? He tried to put the money in the kids' names but the Goldmans are demanding the advance. They'll probably get it too. I repeat, he has a judgment against him for millions of dollars. There was a trial and he was found liable for Ron Goldman's death based on a preponderance of evidence. Probably overwhelming too. And beyond a reasonable doubt.

PETA will be a huge presence and distraction to the falcons. Right now, he is just a baad investment for the team. And yes, it does make the NFL look like cunts. Just like Pacman Jones, and everyone before him involved in scandals and crimes.

Im sure he has more than a minimal knowledge of this, by the way. Besies the pit bull breeding, you cannot tell me he had no idea there were sheds and kennels being built on his property or that he had 50+ dogs living there? Where did everyone get the money for this? Probably the rich owner?

As for his playing...I dont know that much about football, im a baseball girl myself. But from what I know...great runner, mediocre QB.
