Advertising to Non Critical Thinkers
    #7178695 -

So I was shopping for groceries today and in the toothpaste section I noticed Crest with Scope. It's a very pretty toothpaste; when you squeeze the tube, two different colored beads come out. The marketing here is the two colors. A non-critical thinker will assume that one color (white) must be toothpaste and the other color (blue-green) must be the mouthwash.

Well, critical thinker that I am, I decided to read the label and look for the evidence.

Turns out the tube contains only toothpaste and some dyes, but no mouthwash. I can tell this because Scope contains active ingredients that weren't listed.

This marketing scheme appears to work since many of the other brands also had some form of dye used to stripe the toothpaste and dupe people into thinking they're getting something they're not. Even Scope isn't blue-green; that color is a dye too.

Why do people so often blindly accept what they see without digging deeper especially knowing how easily humans are deceived? This happens as often in supermarkets as in churches as on psychic telephone hotlines and I'll never understand it.

Do you use Crest with Scope or something similar? Do you see how they're insulting your intelligence? Do you still buy it?

i don't use toothpaste that has fluoride

water fluoridation is another story about people accepting anything, and they will, and do, forever, unless they get access to better information.

Almost all advertising is utterly retarded if you're actually paying attention. You can find examples of this all over the place.

Perfume adverts- some highly irrelevant footage of partially-clad females, or a "cool" guy in a shirt is shown, then the perfume/cologne bottle is displayed. I don't even know what approach they're trying there, and almost all perfume adverts are like this.

Razors- a man with a smooth face is shown standing next to a supermodel. If you buy this product, you too could have a female rubbing herself against your face!

Because it's easy for them to live like that. Accepting the baseless, decayed, 2D reality that is given to you through the screen of a television or the pages of a magazine is far simpler than opening your eyes to the fact that reality is something that stretches beyond the realm of "New shampoo technology!"

Well I hate advertising too like any sane person, but I'm sure you're wrong here. Not actually including Scope would be false advertising and would expose them to big class action BS. You can go to pg.com and get the materials sheets yourself.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure PG and the like are up to all sorts of shady shit, but this doesn't fit the MO. Consumer groups are powerful and vocal; they would much rather dump shit in a lake in Africa where nobody's watching (I'm assuming).

Indeed!!

You won't find the tooth paste box informing you that fluoride has a toxicity level between that of arsenic and lead. No thanks!

Look into a non fluoridated pastes by JASON. I highly recommend using both the tea tree paste and the calcium fortified paste. :yesnod:

I use Tom's. The airport thought it was a grave threat to national security and threw it away.

They were nice about it though.

But the issue is that with toothpaste at least the fluoride isn't being swallowed, when you drink water its tough luck unless you buy water made in part through steam distillation.

advertising..... maybe everyone needs to look at what that means.

Imagine the dating websites.... you are advertising the parts of you attached to your genitals, sometimes just plain making shit up or omitting "facts".

Like, a female saying "I am 140 pounds, and leaving out the fact that she is 4'9".

just disregard advertising entirely. It is just another word for lying.
it is like wellbutrin commercials. Are you unhappy? take wellbutrin, it will make you happy... see this person running through summer wheat fields with an SEG? that can be you.
See this diagram of little bubbles going from one pink mass to the other pink mass, yeah, those are your emotions, and some of your emotions cant make it from this pink blob to that pink blob, so that is what wellbutrin does, it lets the happy bubbles get to where they need to go. Tell your doctor about it in case he is completely retarded and has no clue what it is.

I usually buy what is on sale - cheapest per ounce/size.....
Don't care what brand, don't care what color, if it tastes minty after I brush my teeth, it's all good....    :muppet:

Are you talking about the difference between "Gel" and "Paste" toothpastes....?

I would class all people as delusional, critical thinkers included. The "critical thinkers" are just drinking a different color Kool-Aid.
