I just ran into Daniel Pinchbeck on the street
    #7121572 -

He looked really out of it. I said, "Hey, Mr. Pinchbeck, how's it going?" as I walked by him and he sorta whirled around and said "hey!" cause I think I made him think that he knew me from somewhere but couldn't remember where. Good times.

you should have asked him his thoughts on the human brain and its holographic nature

and at that reality's holographic nature

just to see if he gets all excited or just walks away

what if he was all like

O MY GOD!...I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT RUNNING INTO A COMPLETE STRANGER AND THEM ENDING UP BEING A GREAT FRIEND FOR LIFE!

then invited you back to his place and shared a bunch of psychedelics with you and wanted to talk philosophy

Well I'm not a huge fan of his so I wouldn't have been so psyched about all that, though I bet he'd make for good conversation. I've seen him give a talk in real life once, and he struck me as quite the douchebag, no matter how interesting his written theories are.

Pinchbeck lives in NYC. If you read the Rolling Stone article about him it talks about how a lot of his key psychedelic experiences were right in my neighborhood.

I envy you.

I can't wait until I move to SF, then NYC, maybe.

Or maybe I'll just buy a vacation home there.

i've never read his books or listened to his lectures, but checking out some articles and peices of his books, it seems like he just directly took ideas from other people and is getting fame from it.

he's no mckenna...

The guy's a douche. I enjoyed reading his books and props to him for being completely honest but I really disagree with many of his perspectives on psychedelics and "new age" phenomenon.

In the "2012: The Year of the Mayan Prophesy" book he completely justifies leaving his wife after she's given birth to their daughter and wanting to sleep with as many women as possible as all part of his "quest".

Douche!

I personally really liked his book, in the same way I really like My Dungeon Masters Guide; bizarre observations with context.

He was probably frazzled because he's writing a new book where he connects Linear Cheesewheels, Non-Linear Kraft mac and Cheese, crampons, The History of the World (the movie) and Cheerleader Pom Pom soup to psychedelics and Aliens. That's a mighty hard thang to fathom, younglings.

Oh no! Annie killed the Younglings!
Fuck the Younglings!;-)

Everyone needs to watch his dialoges with Douglas Rushkoff (youtube it), it pretty much shows that Pinchbeck is off in la-la land 75% of the time while Rushkoff stays firmly grounded in this reality. Rushkoff was Robert Anton Wilson's friend and it shows.

Those videos are great, and they got me much more interested in Rushkoff and much more turned off from Pinchbeck.

Waking up today I thought, "D'oh! I should have given Pinchbeck a Shroomery card and asked him if I could do a sit-down interview with him sometime, him me and a tape recorder." Oh well.

You can watch two documentaries of Rushkoff's on PBS for free. They're good. I downloaded them.
