Video Editing Software Suggestions?

I've been trying to find a simple video cut and splice utility for video files (any popular format) with no luck.

All I want to do is trim down some YouTube videos that are too long for a short attention span audience. For example, removing the 2 minutes of opening credits and boring interview in the middle but keeping the car chase.

There are some giant video production suites but that's way overkill for what I'm looking for.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just torrent Adobe Premiere.

It works incredibly well as a basic video editor if that's all you want. Import the clips, slice out what you don't want and "file-export", set your output settings and you're done.
