So organic chem I wasn't so bad....

Seriously I heard horror stories about this class and there were people there taking it for the 2nd-3rd time. I would presume Orgo II is going to be harder but I didn't find 1 to be all that taxing.

I made an A with a 94 but the class avg was a 68 O.O.

I don't consider myself a genius in any sense but I think this class' infamous reputation is a bit exaggerated

Hopefully 2 won't be that hard.

i took organic 1 and 2 last year and got a B and C respectively. I agree with you though the difficulty of the class is exaggerated a bit.

I could have done better too but i fucked around alot last year, our professor suggested we study 3 hours every day to pass the class and i studied 3-5hours the night before the test and thats it.

Organic 2 is much harder imo, when you get to reactions and synthesis of aromatic chemicals it can get kinda tricky. it didnt help our teacher got off on how hard his tests were making us memorize like 30-40 reactions and mechanisms per test was a bit much.

But if u got a 94 you shouldnt be worried i guess.

Im pre pharmacy but im considering changing my major since it is ridiculously competetive to get into a pharmacy school these days, but i havent decided what to switch to yet.

you're taking orgo 1 and orgo 2 during summer sessions? that seems fucking intense. so much crammed into such a short amount of time.

It really is intense.  I literally go to class and make sure my head is fixed to the blackboard. 

No review and we did a whole bunch of reactions the day before the test that comprised 60% of the exam. 

It doesn't take a genius just dedication imo.  I didn't mind not partying for 3 weeks  :crazyeyes:

hey, i'm wanting to get into the field of organic chemistry and eventually neuroscience - i'm signing up for my first science class atm... is chem m01a really necessary to get into organic ? or could i start up at chem mo1b or something and skip any steps?

I'm not sure about yuor numbering system. Most schools probably have genchem as requirement for o-chem. Even if not, you shoud probably take it first unless you consider yourself an expert of basic chemistry and took college level chem in highschool, etc.

yeah man, good job. I mean it does all depend on your professor and there are a lot of fuckoffs that just bitch a lot.

I was lucky to have a good professor. Got a B. I'm thrilled with that grade compared to what others made.

I know there's an accelerated chem class that combines chem 1 and 2. Seriously you should take it, because Gen chem is worthless in ORganic. You'll begin learning about Chemistry when you take Organic 1.

theres no classes at my college combining the two; at the moment im picking from:
introductory chemistry 1
general chemistry 1/2
general chemistry 2/2
general organic chem 1
and lastly - Found. Gen, Org & Biochemistry - has no description... so i dunno where this class lies

apart from doing basic chemistry highschool classes a few years ago, i don't have much experience in chemistry besides what materials i read online.
what do you think is the class i would need to go into to prepare me best for organic chemistry?

Start with general chemistry.

Intro will be the highschool class all over again. Gen will cover things from the start as well, but at a college pace and go beyond that quite a bit.
