My Cancer.



I did not post this for sympathy, I have Basal cell carcinoma. Its not currently a life threaten thing but will mess my face up permanently. I'm posting this for information or personal experiences with it, and also to inform the younger and older people on the message board, that if you have discolored growths on your skin or black moles get them checked by a dermatologist if something like this goes untreated it can be destructive and disfiguring .I am 22 and this is not common for someone my age, but this can happen to anyone I guess.

why a dermatologist and not a plastic surgeon? just curious.

A dermatologist can usually diagnose you just by sight but can also take a biopsy to be sure of whats cancerous. A plastic surgeon is more for reconstructive surgery, which wouldn't help. I use to be real vein about my looks. Now girls just look away. I guess this is what I get. thanks for the feedback anyway.

A couple surgery's with no anesthesia, or pain medicine after, just Novocaine during. I have the option of Kemo but I'm not going down that road.Now I'm waiting on a test to come back to see if they need to cut more of my face off. Anyone else have any really unpleasant surgery situations?

damn did someone punch you in the eye too? Almost anything can be fixed without disfigurement if you got a decent plasic surgeon. good luck to ya

The nerves and tissues around the eye are really sensitive.Causing the black eye which I'm told now it may never completely fade. I just don't see how a plastic surgeon could help me at this point, maybe after treatment.

My dad had a chunk of his nose removed, but you can barely tell... Plastic surgeons take a hit because of all the breast implants, lipo and vanity bullshit. but they can be incredible for basic reconstruction...
