Poppies going in with my garden with the tomatoes and such
    #6818939 -

I ordered some Black Cloud, White Cloud, and Hens & Chicks. I am going to put them in with my heirloom tomatoes, bell peppers, cayenne, corn, cucumbers, squash, etc. Is this okay? The package says to use potting soil. My garden is huge. I don't wanna. I will have rows dedicated for poppies. Behind the garden, I am going to put in some African Dream Herb (Entada Rheedii). I am putting a couple of 5 gallon buckets w/ Kratom as well.

Sorry, I am just a little excited about my garden.

Oh yeah, I have a bunch of flying saucer Morning Glories w/ cages for the vines in pots. Is this right for that variety?

I keep my morning glories on cages -- otherwise they try to climb my deck which (for reasons that are known only to the land lord) is painted black. Then they get burned. They really seem to love the tomato cages I give them, though.

I don't know about putting the poppies with the tomatoes and peppers and such -- those like hot and wet, while poppies like it a little cooler and drier than the tomatoes. Plus, tomatoes don't produce nice fruit if they're crowded with other things.

What kinds of heirloom varieties are you growing, anyway?

I grew poppies one year but it wasn't worth the stress of getting a fine for just a few plants. It's a little late and the best time to sow is fall, however you may have success.

I'm excited about my garden this year too

My heirlooms:

Bonny Best (red)
Brandywine Pink (pink)
Golden Sunburst (yellow)
Black Krim (purple)
Evergreen (green)
Djena Lee's Golden Girl (orange)

At little color, you know.

I just ordered four packs of dagga seeds. I thought, "why not? I want to experience the Garden of Eden." I got some milk thistle as well. I am going to grow some MJ in the woods. I have a good clearing, and milk thistle is suppose to stay green in the fall. Good camo.

I am probably going to order a couple of Salvia plants too. I'll just put them in the back of the house (away from my damn cat). Are the new strains available yet?

I am not too paranoid. I live in the sticks. My house is high on a hill and my neighbors can't even view my garden. I believe in keeping your yard nice and not pissing off the neighbors while not getting all friendly either.

I was going to yell at you if you didn't have some black krims in there. I usually grow Hillbillies, Black Krims, Paul Robesons, Black Ethiopians and Black Cherries.

I'm going to get some Wild Dagga going as well. I'd like to get some salvia going for propagational purposes, but simply don't have enough room in the apartment or on the deck for that. I'm also missing having a water garden (and I really miss growing blue lotus), but I'm thinking about finding some pygmie water lilies that will fit in a whiskey barrel fountain.

Good advice, however friendly neighbors are cool, sometimes.

This year besides the normal long list of plants, I've gotten some Heirloom French Pastel Tomatoes, and Black Japanese Futsu squash. Just today I planted the hardened seedlings in the garden, but I'm holding off on the tomato( just for now.
I've got too long of a list of plants to name, but I am right there with you, a good garden is VERY rewarding.

Try to focus on a few key perennials like echinacea, sage, rosemary, tiger lillies, gladioulus, etc.
That way you can keep expanding your stocks( and if you have the space) eventually open up a cut flower and online shop, selling roots, plants, bulbs, rhizhomes, cormlets, teas, etc. Oh I forgot Iris too, they are nice, and LOTS OF MINT( get tons of varieties.)

Yeah I am going to get some herb starter plants. To anyone growing mint: use a POT. This stuff can be a nuicance. I have been growing mint for a while.

I love mint julips during the derby (although I hate racing in general). Guess which state I live in...LOL.

I am wore out from getting all this stuff going. I have been running figures through my head. I am thinking about starting a small online shop. I don't know yet though, seeing how the gov. wants to inspect. I doubt they would apprediate the P. somniferum and the MJ. It will be a year or two before I could get going, but I am considering buying some ethno goodies wholesale. Legal drug dealing...I mean incense selling...just sounds fun.

If anyone could give me some guidance in this area, I would really appreciate it.
