can i burn songs from Itunes to cd?

Is it possible to burn mp3 tracks from i tunes to put on a blank cd?

Would I have to convert the format from mp3 to something else first?

Any instructions would be apprecaited

Of course you can. You can burn MP3s onto a CD in MP3 format or standard audio CD format.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab > Burning tab. There are your options.
