how do people feel about having our accounts transfered to the new site once its completed.. im sure most of us would register anyways.. i think it would be easier for us if we could just use the same account on both sites.

Yeah I personally think that accounts should work across both sites. But some of the other admins feel it might detract from the unique community which could develop around the Weedery. So I'm definitely curious what people think. BTW Banez, how's boot camp?

Well, people are probably going to create an account with the same name anyways. Clearly there are a lot of people interested in it, but I have a feeling that it might cannibalize the Shroomery, which would a tragic thing. :shrug:

One possibility is to share the community forums, and then have dedicated forums for cultivation etc. on each site. That would definitely cut down on cannibalism, but it might prevent the Weedery from developing its own unique identity. Thoughts?

Its a great idea, but I'm not sure about all of the extra traffic the community forums already in place will receive. A mushroom website seems to attract a lot more intellectual, aware individuals, whereas a marijuana website is going to attract... well, everybody, which means much less intelligence and awareness. :lol:

I say we divorce them from each other. It'd be best that way. :wink:

I think it would be better for it to be a stand alone site. It only takes two seconds to register an account anyways.

However there is nothing to stop you from perhaps creating a redirect forum perhaps under the heading 'The Weedery' which points to the new Weedery site?? Then you get the best of both worlds. A site which is itself but one which Shroomery members can easily get to.

Isn't there a problem with weed sites attracting a lot more attention from the authority's than a shroom site ?

Maybe best to have it stand alone, so that when it gets pulled, and dumped, it will not bring down the shroomery with it.

I think its been stated 10 Gajillion times that lawyers have been consulted and there is nothing remotely illegal about a site distributing information on illegal drugs.

In keeping with the name format of the Shroomery, in conjunction with the fact that that domain name was available for us to register! :wink:

There is no good reason to believe that a marijuana-based information website will carry with it anymore liability than a psychedelic-mushroom-based one.

boot camp was pretty sweet actually, i enjoyed it a lot and plan on getting back in the service in like a year or so.

but to the important stuff... i like your idea of the communities sharing the community boards, like they link together.. i just fear (as has been said) that the weedery will take away from this community, which would be a shame.. i just like the idea of us all being able to log-in with our same user names.. i think it should be optional since some people might not want the attention of associating with a marijuana cult. forum.. but im sure 50% of the active community would probably elect to have their account linked to the new site

just my penny on the matter.

Isn't the domain name www.weedery.org ?

And "The Weedery" keeps with the name format more.

Perhaps the usernames of those who have participated here in the last whatever amount of time, or those with more than a certain amount of posts, would have their username pre-registered, and it could be activated at the click of a mouse (the information could be transferred instantly, or something).

To be honest, I just don't care for the notion of sharing community forums. :nonono:

Yea well the final name hasn't really been decided.  We own both domains, Weedery + Growery, as you can tell by visiting either name.  As for sharing forums and all that, while it might happen, it is probably going to be more of a technical obstacle and I have my doubts that we will port our entire user database to the new site automatically... afterall, that would just snap up many of the most common usernames, likely with accounts that will never be used. 

You get your weed yet, Y? :wink:
