Hello and welcome to the Fourth official composition contest. This is going to be the first of its kind in this part of the forum. My goal is to assist people in pushing their compositional skills farther along the path.  Having a deadline is sometimes the perfect ingredient needed for creating some awesome sounding piece. 

Rules and Contest guidelines:
*Contestants will be presented with a photo. They have 1 week to recored an original composition to express that photo by means of moving air molecules. (music) Any genre!

*The little criteria for the actual composition is .MP3 file format and its recommend to keep the track shorter then 4 minutes.

*Submit your final MP3 to: ---- It must be in before 11:59pm of the due date for it to be posted as a candidate for voting. (When you email me your track, please name it and let me know your USERNAME)

*The final vote will take place in a voting thread. Once I upload all the tracks I will set up a poll. A NOTE: The order which will be listed is solely based on who sends in their tracks first. If you get it done mid week.. send it in! The people voting might become a bit hasher hearing the 5th down the list. (try and be the 1st or 2nd on the list) Only the title of the tracks will be posted to make sure no bias is involved in the vote.

*The winner is picked by the votes at 10am (pacific time)of the day proclaimed the end. If there is a tie, we let votes go on for another 24 hours.  The winner gets to pick the next picture. (common sense guidelines when picking photos. Nature, the city, human face, abstract art, any other kind of art, scenes... ect)

And this photo is from last weeks winner, psilocyberin. Its quite interesting and different.  I'm feeling it. :smile:  Let the composing begin!

I am working my ass off for this one.

I was all hungover yesterday and stayed up till 4:30am trying to nail the rythm for the song I'm making...5 hours in a row.  I got so frustrated and I HAD to go to bed. :thumbdown:

I've come up with something, but the rythm still isn't "solid" enough for me...tis so hard to get it perfect.

I got a question.... So, I havent had much time to work on compositions (been extremely busy lately), and the melodies I do have right now, dont fit the picture nearly as well as some pre-recorded song I have.
I know it seems a little fishy that since I picked the picture, it would seem that I had this song in mind when I did so....

but maybe that is negated by this post....

so anyway... would it be against the rules to offer up a song that was already recorded? even if I am planning on making some alterations to it, but the melodic line and beat will generally stay the same?

It should be originally made/recorded just for this track with in the time frame given. Everyone does the same. Just do your best with the melodies your working with right now. I've also been loaded down with school work and family matters.. I still don't have the freakin track worked out.. So keep it original. Thats the whole point, your struggle to come up with something new just like everyone else. (I know it sucks if your busy as hell the week of but it happens)
