Alright, I bought the soil from Lowes and it's called "Smart Soil" potting mix by Pursell. It already has a mix of sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, ground dolomitic limestone, and a wetting agent and water polymer. Now for this procedure I used the PF tek using 1/2 pint jars, with the Ramsey seal tek. After I birthed the cake I sliced it in half, put one of the halves on the bottom of a small flower pot with some wet perlite laying on the bottom. With the other half I crumbled it up and sprinkled it around the whole half already there. Now, here's the casing part. For every cup of soil I used I added roughly 1/10 cup calcium sulphate (gypsum). Then I added enough water to it so that I could squeeze it and water would barely drip from it. I took some of this mix and I sterilized it 45 min @ 15 psi's so I wouldn't have to worry about contams already in the soil. Then when it cooled down I simply applied it about 3/4 inch over the substrate in the flower pot. It took about 4 days before the casing was colonized. About another 3 days I had pinning, and 3 after that full grown shrooms more potent than I've ever had! Did you put the casing right in to a terrarium or did you let the recover first?

I sterilized the casing in a little rice pan right in the pressure cooker, 45 min. @ 15 psi's. I did not allow the cakes to recover, I just applied the casing right on the cakes after I broke them up and put them in the flower pot. In my opinion, the cakes recover better under casing, there's really no point in letting them recover. Just don't be stupid and have super saturated casing, and don't dare pack the casing. Let it lay loosely on the cakes so the cakes can still breath a little. Pack very very lightly just to get the casing flat.------------------ Trying to rationalize with an irrational person, is in itself irrational!

Don't be afraid to use casing, it's well worth the effort as long as your careful.------------------ Trying to rationalize with an irrational person, is in itself irrational!
