Telling my father about weed/mushrooms

Hello,

I'm 18 years old, and have been using psychedelics for about two years. As of late, I have become more aware that my father was into the psychedelic movement back in the 60's-70's. This was proven when I found his 420 kit, equipped with many pipes, a bong, some sort of glass vile (I'm thinking for LSD) and a cannabis grow kit.

Even more, I have noticed the smell of week smoke in the house once that was not my own.

I have also noticed suspect ashes on a rock in the back yard in a joint shape once. (my dad doesn't smoke cigs)



He hasn't told me much of his use, beside telling me he's done mushrooms upon having a drug talk... (I was reading a bud book in the library at age 16. he told me to wait if i wanted to experiment w/ psychedelics.

I haven't told him I've done any psychedelics. Although I painted mushrooms, (cyanescens) and joked around on the topic of weed, and talked about it's decriminalization around U.S.

Now,

My dad told me one of his old roommates from college is coming to visit in a month. My dad claims he his a total hippie (didn't say in a negative tone)

Now I know I have a strong bond of trust between both of my parents. I have gotten good grades consistently through school, and am on my way to college this year. I also got a job in which my parents give me total freedom to leave the house whenever or have friends over even if they are gone. (they know i drink and let me drink around them at celebrations.

Now I'd really enjoy smoking with my dad and his roommate, when they come. I'd also like to tell my dad about my psychedelic usage to be honest with him, even though they have not asked me.

Should I ask now?
How do I go about doing it, or initiating it?
past experiences with this?

It wasn't me that found his kit, but my friend who took care of our cat when we were gone who informed me.

Also, I do not wish to call him out on his business, rather enlighten him about my business.

No not really. I guess I should just ask, but I'm a bit nervous. I'm not sure if my mom would approve although I am on great terms w/ her. I guess I'm ready to ask if he would like to smoke, but I'm still a little timid, cause he has never touched much on the subject. (As to not influence me)

Now I'm starting to think his philosophy is that he will wait until I ask him to partake.

Go for it. My mom is a total newb when it comes to drugs and the conversation turned out great. And I'm not even that close to her. It's hard to do, but you'll eventually blurt it out and it'll be such a relief.

yup I did that with my dad this weekend about weed and for some reason he was cool about it this time, probably because I explaine the decriminalization of it in this neck of the woods at the moment.

pretty sure my dad knows without me having to tell him. i mean.. i told him i was growing edible mushrooms a while back, never specified what kind, but he's not stupid. and on multiple occasions he's hinted at his knowledge that i smoke.

he's a "been there, done that" kind of guy in regards to drugs. Nothing but alcohol anymore, but he knows. in fact, i know he was into coke for a while. one time he explicitly told me he spent "too much money on it."

hah.. funny stuff father.

I'd go for it dude. Sounds like you have some good parents, and bonding with good parents is important. Truth is the best method.
And if you can smoke a bowl with Dad, that's some quality bonding right there.

yeah do it bro.
my dad *claims* to have done 'every drug on the face of the earth' (towhich I scoffed at :smirk:) but i think he only said it so it gave him a level of authority and opinion to lecture me on it.

he asked me if id done acid or shrooms (in the belief that they are the worst drugs ever) and I said yes, to which he said he was disappointed in me, but I came back and said 'hey at least I'm not a total fuck up, sure i've made some mistakes but my life is going in a really positive direction' to which he concurred.

as long as you have depth and substance to back up or justify your usage (ie - im still doing really well in school and have been careful not to overdo whjat little i do actually partake in)

so yeah, go for it and your dad sounds cool anyways. i think its sad that we've got to hide things like psychedelics/weed (clear lifestyle choices) from our elders to be accepted as people.

innocence is ignorance is bliss, I suppose

My 20 year old son recently told me that he tried shrooms, but he is aware of some of my hobbies:smirk: ...Go ahead and talk with him, but he may not want you smoking with his friend...

Yeah smoking with the father is one thing, but he probably won't want you in on it with his college buddy. I had a similar situation with my father, and, although he talks about his experimental days, I have met some of his old buddies, but they prefer to keep to themselves, as it is almost a nostalgic experience that they share together.
