hardly - making ignorant statements on topics which you are uneducated makes you look dumb.

Jesus knowlingly sacrificed himself, quite different from commiting suicide. Suicide is defined as one person taking their OWN life. His life was taken from him, although he was aware of the situation - it is still considered murder.

Threads like these are quite pointless - especially if the original poster who initiates the debate is as close-minded as those defending their Christian (and other religious) viewpoints.

I am not uneducated to religion. A t one time I was going to become a priest. I have studied the bible extensively and most of it is bullshit.

And Jesus could have saved himself if he wanted to. He did not make a sacrifice. That is catholic dogma and sucks.

Misinformation.

Jesus & Buddha etc are not bullshit.. they were just free thinking radicals. Do you think jesus actually said / did all the stuff 'they' said he did. I guarentee you 99% that most of the bible is speculation. I personally believe that jesus and various other 'prophets' were people similar to the buddha etc while trying to spread the knowledge they gained through meditation and were misinterpreted and speculation began to grow..

Like the film 'the life of brian' if you've ever seen it. Throughout the whole film he detests that he is the messiah, yet the mob pushes this title upon him.

However this god / allah / various deities is more than likely wrong.

To me, in some ways religion is merely a way of explaining things that science can't. It is to the extent that you believe these things that defines your faith. I believe that Jesus, Siddhartha Gautama(Buddha), Moses, Muhammad, etc. were all real people, and in all their teachings there is some truth. Tying any of these prophets/teachers to a higher being is where blind faith comes into play.

I believe that more or less, all of these people have had a positive impact on this world. If Heaven or Karma is going to stop someone from doing bad things then who cares what name we put on it.

In my personal opinion, I believe there is a higher power. When I look up to the stars in their vast infinity, when I see something growing from the ground, and the miracle of birth/new life how can I deny that there is something far beyond us.

Life and death are both uncertain to me, but if there is an afterlife, as long as you are a good person, I don't see why it can't be good for you. Although the whole infinity thing scares me, it's comforting in a way.

If I had to classify myself, I would say I am a healthy mix of Buddhism, Judaism, and Pantheism.

If I were put a word to my beliefs shamanism would be the word the comes to mind more than any other.

Much like people that would go to church or worship...I eat mushrooms and get the same effect. I believe that "primitive" culture with shamans were the birth of all religions and to me...the answer to spirituality.

While I don't understand religion and even atheism, I still don't think that my ideas are any better than anyone elses. To me shamanism is so logical and gives so many answers and only leads to good, at least in my case. Whether or not God is real shamanism give me a lot of peace and mind. Most importantly true happiness and warmth.

I guess if not believing in anything at all gives you these feelings, what is the difference between me and them? Nothing.
